I am trying to figure out how to put a roundnose handlepole on my squarenose. If I get a roundnose bracket reinforce around where the bracket goes drill holes and make a backing plate will that work. Can I just move the hood hooks that are on the hood will they still work. Also I heard the brackets are mounted at different angles on the sn and rn so can I have the bracket milled at an angle or level off the hull with fiberglass. If anyone has done the conversion could you post pictures of it.

I used the SN bracket, and it was pretty easy. I moved hood hooks to outside the bracket, and out more on the hood. I ground about 1/4 inch off bottom of RN pole for full extension. I also switched to a 2 bolt system, with washers/spacer to run it tight. Finally i reinforced under the bracket ( inside ) all under the nose area, and havent had any cracks yet.

keep in mind that you'll want a lowered rn bracket, the stock size one i put on makes the pivot to high and doesnt handle as well IMO.

why do you have to grind down the handlepole is it because it mounts on a different angle. Would milling the bracket on an angle solve this?

yes the plate will work
you will like it, it was one of the best mods i did on my square. i had a conversion bracket that legdragger made and the pinch bolts, well worth it.

I've been working on doing this this week.
I used the stock squarenose bracket and a stock roundnose pole. I had to grind the stock squarenose bracket totally flat and grind on the end of the pole also. I used lots of stainless washers as shims on either side of the roundnose pole.
Now I'm running into a problem. The pole still hits the hood hooks. There is no room (that I can see) to move them outside the squarenose bracket.
I'm running the dual hood straps w/ stainless ratchet system, so maybe I don't have to have the front hood hooks either?? Seems pretty iffy imo....

here might be the easiest way. I would definately reinforce under the nose if running a tight pole

yea i ground off the little support things on the outside. Also ground off some of the inside bracket like you did.
