A co-worker of mine has a dying t shirt printing business on the side. My friend and I were throwin around the idea of making some jet skiing related shirts to help keep his business going, and I figured, what the hell maybe I'll just put together a small business out of it. Everyone and their mom has a t-shirt comany right, why cant I? :Banane09: I'm pretty sure I'll make zillions of dollars on these bad boys and revive his company. lol

Anyways, what would be a creative stand up jet ski apparel company name? Id love to hear some serious suggestions, and some funny ones too if you have them.

Shirts are very hard to make money on. Everyone wants a free shirt or a very cheap shirt. And you have to stock so many sizes because you never seem to have the size in the shirt people want. So you end up with a ton of inventory and people always asking for free stuff.

x2 on the hard to make money thing... maybe just try to help promote him rather than branch off, for now anyway... try to get production numbers up first... maybe get him to produce some shirts and see if/how well they sell and what price people would buy them.. I think you would all benefit more going this route.. just my thought...

I agree... I come from the custom truck world, and we're flooded with shirt options at events. There is a couple who make their living traveling the country selling T-shirts at truck shows and online.

I'd defintely buy a shirt that had this kind of art. But of Jetskis...

Lake life, a "guide to fresh water living" is a t shirt maker trying to make a run that is kind a fun. Its a couple of college guys who were tired of wearing surf stuff, so they created a line for us inlanders that don't do salt. no clue if they a profitable, but they found a nitche. Agree about the lack of stand up stuff available. As for a name- Jet tee's ?

this company around here called "Salt Life" sells the :):):):) out of some shirts and everyone has the stupid sticker on their vehicles.. just got to come up w/ something no one has thought of yet.. piece of cake, right??.. ha ha

I would make it specific to the culture you live in and it doesn't need to be about something you like, just a good idea!

If you want to make a T Shirt Company then I would stay away from naming your company something Jet ski related. It would make more sense to go with something more neutral so its appeal would be to a larger group. The Jet Ski group is pretty small and most have very different opinions of what's cool or what they would wear. I'm not trying to be a hater here I just don't want you to get in too deep before you realize you have a very limited market. Like already mentioned you're probably not going to make a ton of cash selling T Shirts, but if you just want to do it on the side then I say go for it. Call your shop anything you want but put your efforts into focusing on which T-shirt designs have the most appeal. Maybe start a pole thread to get an idea of what designs are the most popular?

This is a tricky business. My brother owns the SlutonaTank name and logo that he gave some stickers away in Daytona. It is trademarked and registered but the more popular you get scum bags off shore still copy it and kill your business. There is another guy here in northern Michihan that has a HUGE hit with M-22 logo. He has sold over a million bumper stickers and has a store selling all of the clothing. It started as a Kite surf company and has exploded. Now every A-hole with a printing or embroidery machine is copying it illegally. You can go after them but how much stuff do you have to sell to pay the attorneys. Just think it through
