i'll be sporting TWO of these from now until my ankles get strong again.

this is the one I bought. I rode with it yesterday and it definatly worked. I did't have any shooting pains from riding and I almost always do.

my question is. my ankle still hurts from daytona. should I wear the brace when not riding (it feels better when the brace is on) or should I keep it off?

think I need this thread, so thanks! Looking into all of them myself and finally on my way to doc shortly to see what they say (thinkin/hopin just a sprain this time). Ask masterblaster on the braces also before you buy, he's like an encyclopedia on any gear related stuff...I just can't recall where he said to buy. I will ask my physical therapist what exercises are best on next visit and relay info.

Decided I just needed to take a pic of my boot cast at this point and make it my avatar. :frown:

I got a pair of those myself $25 each. They had some with velcro straps+ lace up for $30 each, but they felt cheap.

I also went with some neoprene wrist wrap around brace things for a little extra wrist support.

thanks Gump, much appreciated. Dr. just gave me five range of motion exercises to start with (nothing broken...thinks a bad sprain by viewing standard xrays). Said sprains can take 6-8-12 weeks to fully heal. Ten strengthening exercises are to follow. He wrote rx for pt I'm already seeing for back. Referring me to ortho specialist also for osteo testing, and doc in Atl is sending down bone stim device for the prior fracture. I'm thinkin that's enough  , but plan to start hitting the gym asap. Said no skiing for a good long while, but :sneaky: maybe I can just float in a week or so! :cool2:

Demon, told him my ankle popped really loudly around five hours later, and that I felt much relief immed afterwards. That got raised brows...said I prob partially dislocated something (some name for that type of dislocation), and that it re-aligned itself (explaining the severe pain). Perhaps that is what happened to you.

Saki, not sure if you went to doc or not, but if you want the diagrams of these exercises, let me know. (that vid I took of your ankle dance is pretty funny, but your "Thought of the Day" turned out much better!)

you're the second person to mention dislocation. maybe that's what happened. :dunno:

I rode on it yesterday with a brace. it wasn't to bad.

yes sir, but oddly enough, I had little swelling with both injuries (and the first one was small rips in tends and ligs in addition to the fracture), so I don't know...will ice anyway. Tried doin one crutch a few times today, but just too much so far. Making appt with specialist 2mrrw just as a preventative.

Demon, I bet that is it. Hurt like hell...worse than the above until it popped back in...leg was jumping everywhere, all by itself, for around 30 mins. I'll never go out again without braces that tie tightly.
