a 1974 would have been a js 400 but yes they both are twins and are just like the 550.

most of the old 400s and 440s never got upgraded to a stainless sleeve pump. the all aluminum pumps had to much clearance and ate up all your hp.

a stock 440 is slow cuz it is really choked off. so the difference is with a sleeved pump and few mods you get a ton of power out of a 440.

i have both 40's and 50's and there is little diference in the topend speed when built right. a 440/440 pump will out run a 550/550 with the same mods. A 550/440 is the best match cuz they both make rpm power and this setup will out run both the others.

the 40 has smaller pistons so it make more low rpm power.

screaming440 or anyone else, what do you think of this? http://www.groupk.com/k300.htm A little bit of turd polishing or practical possibility?

your going to spend a grand to make it keep up with a stock 550?????? you can buy a stock 550 running for less than 300 bucks.

spend your money on something else!

the guys that are doing these 300 mods have been riding awhile are building them for a spacific use not just trying to make a 300 go fast.
