Well, we tried Hunting Island last weekend and got put off before we even got the skis unloaded. We were told earlier that it would be no problem so we figured we'd try it and see. The ranger pulled up as we were untying the skis and told us we could ride and even beach but we just were not allowed to Launch from there. It would have been a 4 mile ride from the launch to get back to the beach.

Gonna try Folly Beach this weekend and we'll keep updating.

ya hunting island would even allow us to use the beach dolly to take them to the water but we can load at the ramp and ride around. WOW 4 miles what a dumb rule!!!!

Local Beaufort is SOL on surf... Tybee island is alright but you still have to ride out to the surf. Mrytle is about 3 hours north for me and all highway 17. So far the best place is Huguenot and thats just over 2.5 south. Hopefully folly beach will work. If so boyer i might just keep my ski with you lol, since i play ice hockey in North Carleston every sunday

I’ve only ridden the harbor once and been out the north side of IOP once, and would like to find some surf here, too. I’ll stay tuned for the Folly report. What about putting in up at Buck Hall, or the ramp at the Bull Island ferry and riding around to the front of the island? Yes, the island is named for the local shark, it’s Federal land, and the launch is muddy with no good place to tie up. What about Capers Island just south of it?
