Ok so I've ridden my SN for a year and a half now, And feel like it is time to move on to something lighter. The Lake I ride on is probably about 15 -20 acres and has almost 0 boat traffic (the occational pontoon boat, or seadoo speedster) so I mostly do flatwater stuff (180s, bunnyhops, powersubs, nose dives, whatever it is called when you stand on the gunwales and shove the nose under). I'm really Eying the Carbon Bob gen3 in the for sale section. Basically, having never ridden an AM Hull, would this be a good choice? or are there other better options. I am planning on transferring the guts from my SN over and buy a new handlepole, and maybe start upgrading over the next year or so.

I'm also about 175 lbs and 5"11

If you feel that I am biased due to my involvement with the product, a simple search will show you that the Krash skis (Footrocket, Predator) speak for themselves once ridden. Top riders around the world ride the same hulls (Zack Bright, Mitch Young, Mick Anthony) and prove their capability along with durability.

Every aftermarket hull does certain things well, but I believe the Nick Barton nailed it on the Krash skis as they do EVERYTHING well. The full length adjustable tail plate allows the smaller footrocket to plane off with ease and take on the surf, but also gives the rider an option to ride a short plate and tackle flat water stunts. Also a very stable ride that never feels like it is going to throw you off, but also nimble at the same time.

Personally, coming from smaller skis (Fx1, BOB) and living on the east coast (smaller surf), the FootRocket suited my riding style and abilities perfectly, but don't let that fool you. Mick Anthony just won the first round of the IFWA on a Rocket and that surf was by no means small in Aussie. The footrocket can thrash a wave, carve a turn, and spins, flips, and rolls easily. It has 45 degree rails for a bigger setup wakes and features a v tail and front and rear rocker to get more pop out of the water. It features a recessed front food hold, which I love and it has fully adjustable wells.

I hope this gives you a better idea and this is my personal review of a stellar hull.

Well, I'll definitely put the footrocket on my list after that review. I'm some what hoping to find something used, just cause I rarely buy new. Any other suggestions for a land locked Kansas boy?

Good, sounds like you appreciated the write up.. I enjoyed my BOB gen 2 as it was a cheaper way to get my foot in the door of the aftermarket hull world.

If I may jump in, by the sound of it you mostly do flat water tricks. And the EME Micro is a grate hall for flat water. It's light very nimble and turns on a dime.

Not sure if you heard of Ryan Doberstein but he was doing backs flips from his own wake with a stock 701.

They also have longer and shorter ride plates for different riding styles incase you go somewhere and wanna chase a boat down.
I believe another great top of the line hall to consider.

Chris, thanks for the write up. I've been reading everything I can about am hulls for the day I'm finally able to get one. From the dozens of threads on here it seems that the footrocket is becoming a favorite for many different styles of riding and also has the fit and finish that I would want after spending that kind of cash. It will be my first choice and your write up just continues to solidify that. One question I do have, and one that not many people have been able to confidently answer, is whether to buy the hull with or without the tubbies? how much different does it ride with them and what application would you NOT suggest having them for?

No worries mate, I'm glad that it's helped you put Krash at the top of your list!

Your purchase includes sponsons (tubbies) from Krash that can be bolted on and unbolted if you so choose if you get the full package for 6500(turf, graphics, sponsons, adjustable footwells, scupper, and pole bracket). Sponsons simply help your ski become more stable at straight line speeds and also give you a more aggressive turning capabilities. Specifically created for racing along with free riding.

As for suggestions to NOT run tubbies, I do not have any myself. Any ski I have ridden I threw tubbies on because it increases performance dramatically. Obviously, this is a rider preference upgrade, but personally I would recommend them highly. I hope this helps.

Really comes down to budget. Bob is not a bad choice for flat water stuff and they are very inexpensive, down side is that I think they kind of suck for anything else so if you ever travel to bigger lakes to chase boats you might be disappointed.

Ahh, yeah, I was reading some reviews and that was mentioned about the Bob, I'm gonna bide my time and see if anything that catches my interest pops up used. If nothing else my budget will get larger the longer I wait lol. If it gets large enough by summer, I might just buy the foot rocket. Or whatever is the flavor of the month.

Make sure to budget in the cost to fly/drive to a freeride or lake/ocean/river to test a hull before buying. If you're the type to buy a car, scooter, motorcycle without a test ride, then ignore my comment. You're about to plunk down 4k-8k on a hull. Make sure you're gonna buy a hull that YOU like, not what others like.

And I would be trying to pick up something asap as spring is around the corner. Nothing worse than rush build mid june and waiting on a hull and odds and ends parts.

Hulls I need to ride, and I think you should consider,

Brawler and Superfreak Titan. Two reasonably priced hulls that have great reviews. I will most likely be purchasing one of them within the next 12 months.

Well, I've been doing some reading again, and am really starting to lean towards the Rage Brawler. It seems to be a nice smaller ski and very well priced with really good reviews. And I hear ya about not wanting to do a mid June build. The weather is starting to warm, and I'm getting antsy to buy and ride!
