John has never had his SJ in the salt water...........

Salt water is a bitch---especially when you live very close to it as well as ride in it. Is there anyone who has used his electrical products/services primarily in salt-water that can report on the long term results?!?

Meadlock & Gump have both tried the jss products in salt. Maybe we can get some feedback from them.

Cool---I hope to hear from them about this. I really like the idea of being able to swap the box out quickly with another "back-up" unit. I know that some of JSS products/services have gotten a bad rap, but the electrical stuff really intriques me.

I've had his battery stud kit in my boat for a few months with no problems and I ordered his bullet connectors to do my stator connections and they look like they will do the trick .

The battery stud kit is awesome but tricky to install

You need to solder the connections for the bullet connectors ,it's all stainless, and you can see inside the bullet connectors to see if there is any corrosion .
They look a lot like the bullets inside the electrical box with the plastic covers and such .

I'm gonna try it out .I'm tired of taking the electrical box out to do motor work

Unless someone has had these "waterproof" bullet connectors in salt water for at least a couple years your feedback wont really tell us anything.

in my Kawi I pulled out their stupid externally connected 4 pole "waterproof" plug in the start/stop harness. Cause my ski would not Kill. There are three other kawis I know of with that same problem. These are with high quality connectors.

I solder the wires together now, then de-flux the connector, degrease the wire and then cover with Ancor adhesive lined heat-shrink. The Longest time I have gone without that joint failing is 2 years.

LISTEN TO PAUL- leave those connectors inside the box.

I had the same problem with both of my ski's. Paul at JR Magoos repaired one of mine, the other just fried at the Lanier Riot Ride.
die-elect grease on all connections & a light film on rubber gasket. Keep that salt water out.

I'm gonna try it .If every 2 years I have to redo it it's worth it .

I only ride in salt so it will be a true test .

My stator wire goes up through the middle of the motor and my boat is never that full of water so I think the key is not to fill up your boat and have the connectors submerged .just splashing them is much safer than submerging them.Of course I know that sometimes you can't help but submerge everything .

Fix it every 2 years to not have to open my electric box .PRICELESS

I think Idok has already been down that path. You'd have to check with him for details. :27:

I think the guy should send you all new (or nearly new) electrical components. What do you think, Scott?!?

that pic is not my elec. box.the jss studs on my box are rusted like crazy and have left large rust stains in my hull.i would not recomend it for salt use.the box that i have the kit installed on has never leaked water inside.its the studs themselves on the outside of the box that are rusting away.ill post pics if i get a chance.

If your box is not watertight than nothing will last .I think Butti's biggest problem is his electrical box is NOT watertight .

The picture you have there is NOT the battery stud kit .

sorry, should have been more clear.......

the pix I posted are from my red ski...that right there is some 100% pure gulf of mexico water.....

the batt stud kit on butti's ski I dont have pix of.....but its wasted

That's not good news since I just installed that kit on my ski a few months back .
However Legdrag has had the same kit on his ski for years and it's still not rusted .
It's too late now since I installed it but I'll be sure to clean it well after each use .

i am pretty sure you guys have a company called worth over there i used there 6 pin waterproof conectors on mine the same waterproof plugs as on your cars feul injection recomended for marine use. As far as the battery connectors go a little greese over the top of them should stop any corrosion
a little greese after couple off rides = lasting a long time
