new bilge pump

And do they airlock? Epoxy the base down like the rules?

That's the main reason to dump the Rules. I got tired of having to turn them off and then back on again to get them to pump water. My Attwoods haven't airlocked once. Neither has the base gone soft so the tags break off leaving the pumps rolling around my bilge attached only by the wires....

yeah that has happened to me except it ran against the engine coupler and put a big hole it it.

I think Tims attwood was rolling around by the end of the weekend.....so, who knows.

There is a real easy way to keep Rules from airlocking.......Barrel Rolls or Backflips, they unlock them real quick.

the pump body is screwed to the base so the tabs like on the rule wont break .
I've posted this in the past....the blue base type suck, the nylon black base are pretty much indestructible. While I tore off the tabs on the blue ones I've never broken the nylon type.

Another handy tip is I use a large o-ring that fits over the body of the Rule pumps and after its clipped in the base, I roll down the o-ring...this eliminates the possibility of the side tabs moving inward. Been doing it this way for years and have eliminated all bilge pump blues (pun intended).

FWIW: On my new SJ I installed a single 800gph (round body) Rule pump. I normally run 2 500gph pumps but now also have a 2" scupper.

The Attwood has 3 tabs on the strainer, the motor goes down over them and you turn it to lock it in.

I chop the outer housing off and use 3M on the tabs to keep the motor in place while still being easy to remove (never needed to unless I an pulling the intermediate housing).

chop the outer housing off, put it back on with little dabs of 3M on the tabs and you'll never have to worry again.

I must be retarded, I don't follow you.

chop the outer houseing off?

my problem (which you probably already understand) is the bilge pump pops off of the strianer. the strainder is glued to the bottom of the hull.

chopping the outer housing does not work in salt.......

i tried it with my last (and only) attwood.......it lasted 3 weeks

IMO, rule 360's....they DO NOT airbind.......yes, they are a little more expensive than the attwoods, but the only ones Ive ever had fail were ones that came loose and got chewed up....

my roundie has a blowsion dual rule bracket and its SWEET! i love it...the bases are riveted down

You got ALOT of nice parts on that roundie...:sneaky:

It's actually a Blowsion Kawi 750 dual pump bracket with a little Royal Flush engineering/design to make it fit a roundnose SJ.

Now, if I could just learn to seal up electrical boxes...:

the bracket, and front exhaust are the ONLY parts remaining....

Would you guys feel safe riding with 500 gph attwoods, not using the stock bilge for(dual cooling), with no scupper or one way?

Im thinking of that, otherwise its single cooling, stock bilge, and two attwoods.

I run a single cutdown Attwood, no stock siphon, and 2" scupper.

you can run dual cooloing with out taking out your stock bilge . the same spot the original cooling they have a freeze plug type fiiting remove and run another elbow and a new line through the hull. but i would get rid of the stock bilge and put 2 electric bilges and run the cooling where the stock bilge is .

I like to have two different ways to get water out of my hull just from the point of view of reliability. Bilge pumps work when your electrical system is fine, but a fault will have you wishing that you had a stock siphon or scupper. On the other hand, if you can't get your ski moving a siphon or scupper won't help you, and bilge pumps are your friends.
