NEW Blaster for me.....Need engine help

Hi all....

OK so I know skis pretty good and have rebuilt a couple top ends, changed oil seals, etc so I know a bit...

I just bought a couple of Waveblaster 1s last night as I've wanted one for a while now 1 works, 1 is completely torn apart and seems to be all there. I've ridden pretty much all the stand ups but mostly Kawasakis so I don't know Yamaha that well.

Anyways.......lol

I've got the engine apart and its a 61x I believe...701cc but the top end has been over bored already and the top of the piston says 3.00mm the piston is just scuffed and the jugs look pretty clean so I am going to do a hone and order another 3.00mm over piston I think.

So here's what I don't know....What size head gasket should I order? Would a 760cc head gasket work? or do I need to order a specialty one?

Thanks in advance

I measured the pistons and they're 84mm... same size as a 760 piston so i ordered a set of those and a 760 gasket kit so i think im good...... I'll find out soon enough though I'm sure .....lol

That's what you need but the 760 gasket kit will have a couple gaskets that you can't use, like the 62T exhaust gasket. You need the 61X exhaust gasket.

Great thanks for the feedback.... ya i have a full 701 gasket set i bought for my fx1 i had from a couple years ago and never used it so i have those gaskets... it turned out it was cheaper to buy a whole gasket kit rather than a head gasket by itself so i got the kit....
Pistons, gaskets, new cdi, start/stop switch all ordered... getting pretty stoked for this build... got my winter project/hide from the wife in the garage plan all ready to rock! Haha

another quick question Yamabro or anyone..... As far as the cylinder base gaskets goes should I use the 701 or the 760? or does it matter?
Cheers

Just read this...
Like Kyles73dart said the 64X base gasket is a few thousandths bigger.
Either one would work, but I'd go ahead and stick with the properly fitted 61X gasket.
