I dont have any water leakage issues with a properly built oem ebox and just remove the fuse cap from time to time to check for water on inside of cap.
It is my belief that many/most water problems come once boxes are opened to change out a component and then closed using old seal and/or pinch a wire and closed wrong. Also saltwater will corrode and lift the ebox seal from the metal back as corrosion deposits form and cause water leak. In our custom ebox builds we seal gasket to metal back to help slow this down.
That said, the clear front a/m boxes are pretty and you can inspect with a quick glance. I prefer the design like the cold fusion that use oem ebox grommets which make changing out components easy. If you need to swap stator, coil, or cables, part just lifts out and any oem part will fit. With kawi style ebox connectors used by most others, then you need to modify the stator, coil, or cable to even try it.
