Not being coast guard approved will no pass inspections and that’s really the only reason to carry one.

I have been wondering about this for the summer - I'm assuming my local DNR is aware of the Kidde recall, if so they must also know that the replacement units do not fit in our skis? I have 4 new ones & kept 3 or 4 of the old ones which I am planning to put in the ski's.
Anyone been stopped with the old ones or with an alternate of some sort?

odds are local DNR is not aware of recall. keep carrying the old one in good faith.
