Super Jet New foam vs. ping pong balls

I did ping pong balls in my ski and it seems super solid. I laid up a seperate sheet of glass so I had a flat surface to stand on. I also reinforced the tray piece with some aluminum angle. It took 665 balls to do my ski. Don't forget to install drain plugs while it's apart. Here are some pics.
I laid everything up on a sheet of plexiglas so it turned out nice and flat (the plexiglas is not part of the tray. It's used for layup only) View attachment 211929

Then trim everything to fit. The black pieces have a layer of carbon on the top.

Add the aluminum. View attachment 211936
Then just lay it up. View attachment 211937
I'll have better guidelines on my build thread if I ever get around to updating it.

OK...this is really good to see. A couple questions. what size angle did you use and did you glass it to the bottom of your tray pieces? Also, what are you putting in the side walls for floatation? Any other pics you can share would be awesome. I did check out your build, and if you plan on putting them on there, I'll wait to see them at that time. Thanks.

My build is almost done I just need to update the thread. This is how the ski looks now. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361872139.588765.jpg
I used 1" angle on the bottom. I cut the angle into pieces and glassed it to the bottom of the tray pieces. That way it's super rigid.

if you look you can see the sharpie marks in the picture. It shows where the metal goes. What do you mean on the sides for flotation? Like above the tray? I didn't put anything because my footholds take up most of the room. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361872264.845277.jpg
I figured what's under the tray would be enough to keep it afloat plus I think it would be a pain to fit the balls in there. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361872345.132970.jpg
You can also see the the tray is lower and wider.

Looks great. I get the no balls/foam in the sides. what type of footholds are those? Also, did you have to do anything with your exhaust pipe to re-rout it? It looks like the original opening into the engine compartment is above the tray floor.
