Other New guy looking for a stand up.

Hey new guy here looking for a ski.

I had a mint 94 sxi and I sold it like a idiot
now I'm sick and wanting another ski bad.

I have 2k cash sitting around

should I buy a 2k ski or should I get a 2k loan and get a 4k ski?

im on a really tight budget and trying to justify the extra 2k

how much better will a 4k ski be compared to a 2k ski?

You're about half way through this season. Save up and buy a real good one in the fall. Prices will drop too and you will get some good deals.

I sent you a friend request thinking it would bypass the PM stipulations and allow me to send you a PM. Get a few more posts or send me ur email. I have a stock SN 701 that's been gone through top to bottom for less that your trying to buy with. My email: gmdeedrick@gmail.com

Both the bottom decks are identical unless you get an 08+ rn. The sn actually has a lower center of gravity as well. I would buy a an before a rn.

The difference in a 2k ski vs 4k ski is honestly ALOT. But it all depends on what you find or end up with. Personally i'd take the 2k and put it down on a 4-5k much nicer ski like a RN and never have to worry about restoring it or fixing constant things that break. Any 2k ski is a old ski. And will need parts that simply break often. I had the same issue last year when i started. I went through multiple cheap ski's and spent alot fixing things that always broke constantly. I had 2 750 sxi's and a SN. Then finally sold it all to get a 2013 Rn and there's no other feeling then a brand new ski. I also picked up a heavy modded Fx1 i'll ride a bit then swap guts into a Rickter.

All in all after i went through all that trouble in the beginning i wish i just took $3500 and found a clean RN to start off with. I'd personally do that if i was you. The older 2 Kawi's i had sucked alot out of me lol.

I'd look into these guys' square nose superjets. If you're not impressed, spend the extra and get a good clean RN.

A good clean ski is definitely worth A LOT more than one that looks rough. The condition usually goes further than just cosmetic. But not always. Actually talking to the seller face to face or on the phone can tell the entire story of whether or not a ski is a pile of junk.

I agree with a 4k ski is far superior to a 2k ski, but not with the reliability of it. I got a SN for $800 and an SXI for $900. They both are a blast and reliable as can be. I rebuilt the carb and replaced motor mounts on one. I just had bolts strip out of the manifold on the other. This is over the course of 4 years with them and those problems happen on 4k skis as well.

Exactly. Everyone above is right. It come's down to being patient and smart when you find a ski. Go look it over, inspect the hull inside and out, make sure it's not dogged out and taken pretty good care of mostly. But 2k you can find nice SN super jets for that price. I had a MINT all stock one i got for $1500 with a custom paint job and all. Run's like a top and super reliable. Also handles and rides alot better then my 750 kawi's ever could. So maybe keep searching find a clean SN an drop 1k in mods into that or something.

always start with a square, I started with only 1k square with paintjob and bpipe, then sold it and bought A nicer square with footholds and pole, then sold it for my baby now, and my square now has all freeride and freestyle mods, trim, pipe, carbs, footholds, front bhold, tubbies, well just read my sig. but yeah buy a reliable square first guarantee youl love it. just never take any lones for a ski, that's bad joojoo

You could put 3-4k in a ski and be set for awhile. Or you could get lucky and find a deal for 2k. I have seen modded RNs for 3k in the past.
My advice: do it right the first time and buy a ski you will love.
