hi my name is joe and i am new here but have been on pwc for a long time and as i am rebuilding my 650 sx i am getting ready to turf the sides for the first time. after doing some research on here (thanks for all the info) it seems most do not like the turf on the sides , some say it does not last,im not afraid of some hard work but i dont want to do it every other month if it wont stay down. does the turf not stick well? i will not be doing anymore than just riding around and a few jumps now and then ,the reason i want to turf is finding good shape side rails that dont cost more than i paid for the ski is very hard to find.
here is a link to my project

let me know about the turf it it wont stay on i think i will see if i can get new side rails from the stealership
thanks
joe

Everyone I know that turfs the sides(including me) have no problems as long as its prepped and glued right. The only thing I dont like is the Hydro-turf logo in the sides or on the bottom, but that is only when you buy the pre-cut kits.. Just get a sheet and cut your own pieces. Its way cheaper.

BTW - Nice looking 650SX and motor!
and Welcome to the X!

i am buying two sheets and it should be here by this weekend so i hope to have some more pics to add to this thanks for the fast reply
joe
on a side note the two sheets will be straight groove for inside and the diamond for the sides

Prep it right and glue it right, and will likely not come off.

:eek5: 2 Sheets I did my 650sx with one and had a little left. Make sure to scuff the areas your gluing to. On mine when I did the rails I used squeeze clamp just while the glue set a little (5 mins) Works great the guy I sold it too said they stayed all this year

Scuff both sides, apply 2 coats of glue letting it dry both times, then adhere and beat the crap out of it with a rubber mallet. It'll stay...
