300/440/550 New here, My ski :]

Been browsing around on these forums and finally decided to join, Im 21 years old and live in Laughlin, Nevada, conveniently located a few miles from the colorado river.Ive been riding and racing dirtbikes since I was five, so when I first rode my friends 93 750sx I was instantly hooked.
I just purchased my first stand up 4 months ago for $400 and ive been going out every weekend, Learning small subs and other various tricks. Im already wanting more performance and freestyle capabilities, I plan to save up during winter and find A SN Superjet and go from there :] Heres a pick of my 86 550. (I think)
I bought it off a guy who didnt know much about skis at all, There seems to be a 650 head, and the compression is so high I think it has to be milled? Also has a westcoast exhaust,k&n air filter, quick steer and straight bars. Ocean Pro rideplate, not sure on all the motor work but ski is really quick off the bottom.
Nice ski! the head is a 550 head. It has probably been milled to have higher compression, so make sure to run 93 octane gas. The hull is pre-86. The last two digits of the hin are the year. The Hin is on the back rail under the fire extinguisher compartment. It has a stock 440 exhaust manifold, so it might be a 440. There should be a sticker on the front of the engine on the flywheel cover that says the displacement. I would suggest getting a lanyard kill switch for it because sometimes they don't circle back. You can also just set the idle low so it cut off if you fall.

Thanks for the positive replys! I just started running 91 octane today, but next batch will be higher octane gas, I was also curious about what I should be mixing at, Right now im using Maxima high performance oil and mixing 50:1, and if someone could tell me where the Zerk fitting is? Ive been told its behind the battery but I dont see it, and want to grease it. Im going to take a better picture of the engine so we can figure out the displacement if I dont see that sticker...

91 octane should be fine. I run 40:1 on all my skis. The zerk fitting is on the drive shaft carrier sticking out by the battery. It sticks out at about a 45 degree angle. Here's a pic with it highlighted in red.

Welcome and wow your ski brings back some great memories for me......I am 42 and started riding that exact model!
Mine was 100% PJS race ski 92HP nobody could hold on WOT so had to sit on knees to race the sit downs....by the way
back then the sit downs could not hit much past 45-48MPH my 550 did 53MPH but only could stay on if you were on knees
anyway enjoy....P.S. superjet does seem more fun to ride and reliable motor

Welcome to the x! Im in Vegas ride laughlin every now ams then. Have u ment a local guy named Geno really good rider and he cam show you the ropes of freestyle

Thanks for the info and picture t-bone. Megabiite thats really cool you started on that very same model, 92 hp sounds crazy quick. I couldn't be happier with a first ski,I didnt want to settle for a stock ski, so Im really impressed performance wise. I started doing some pretty good subs today, might have to invest in a bilge pump, keep having to dump the ski out. Crazy4sand I havent met Geno, but what kind of ski does he have? Ive only met this guy crazy dave with a fully built SXR800 he just flies around going mach 10. :wiggle:

Bilge pump, new turf, and landyard on the list, can you install footholds on the older skis like you can on superjets n sxrs? And if someone could recommend some high and low speed settings, I think I have it dialed but want to make sure..
