New HOODSEAL, The Infamous D-seal w/pics

Not After Fame & Fortune
that seal looks like it is made of weather stripping type material (unlike rubber used in the OEM seals) I don't think it's gonna last very long before it becomes flattened

this is true but when i called and talked to some one there. they said they use this stuff in many applications such in automotive and industrial stuff, they said they havn't heard any complaints from people and claim many companies use this stuff for 5-7 yrs with out replacement.

i bet it will work well but some one needs to get some to try it out first.

On a Quest about this time last year a thread was started "http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/3715" because a new hoodseal was discovered by yamaslut, which is claimed to be better than the OEM hoodseal, However knowone could get into contact with the distributer. To make a long story short, I have been talking with the guy at Britech and finely got a 3' sample sent.

I am making this thread to see if their is still an interest with this, MUCH cheaper and "better than oem" hoodseal. The only down side is they dont make it in small quantities. A minimum of 250 feet  has to be ordered at a time. The price i would sell it would be around $12 and come in about 8 foot sections plus a flat rate (most likely USPS Priority) shipping. This is the gasket w/o the 3M backing as the tape adds double the cost and not as good as DAP contact cement.

Last but not least this will fit nearly all model jetski's. Not just a Superjet. check dimisions to make sure it will fit in your ski's hoodtrough

Below are a few pictures of the 3' section i sampled ..pics might take a few seconds to load

Pic of seal placed (not glued) in hood channel to show tight fit

Pic of seal installed

easily bends around corners w/o squashing up

Showing pictures of how the gasket wraps up and out the lip of the hood once latched.

If theirs enoulf interest i'll start making a list of pre-orders

nice work Griff...

Could you fill the inside with silicone to make it not crush as easily??
Can you make it 10ft sections? That should be plenty enough to do 2 skis. I think 8ft will be a little short.

probably... Scott did that to one I gave him... I really don't think it needs it though... that foam has no memory

I can cut any length, under 250' and its coming as one roll (i think).
i just used the SWAG (sophisticated wild ass guessing) method on my 8' estimate
anyone have the exact length needed for a RN/SN/or any other ski?

i’m sure you can shot some silicon down the tube, but it would make a mess once compressed. Anyhow yamaslut has already clamed it being as good as the oem as is, so why change..

ps: i'll be updating the 1st post with more info
