They may still be alive but they ain't kicking right now.
Maybe they should try Kawasaki and Yamahas business model and just throw on some BNG for the next ten years or so .I don't like KTM's at all. I bought a new 2003 450EXC and it was the biggest POS Ive ever owned. It was a over engineered hunk o junk. Also they have actually released 59 new models this year alone. Maybe that is part of their problem...lol
Wow. My 03 525 EXC was the single favorite bike I've ever owned. Never gave me a single issue.I don't really like KTM's at all, at least their motorcycles... I bought a new 2003 450EXC and it was the biggest POS Ive ever owned. It was a over engineered hunk o junk. Also they have actually released 59 new models this year alone. Here is a history lesson from someone who was there when the 86 model X2's came out , JF650 -A1 , they didn't pass the float test at all , the thru hull bearings went out and the boats sank , completely sank , we used to call them U2's back in the day , the hood floatation that you see on all the X2's now did not come on the 86 models, those were put on at the dealerships under a USCG recall campaign, the replacement thru hull bearing assy was also a recall campaign , they were both done together to make sure the X2's would no longer sink.Went to World Finals 2016, the SXR was introduced that same week. A friend who has been racing forever, use to work for Laser Jet told me from conversations about the New SXR about why it is big as it is. They hulls have to pass a "Float Test". With the weight of the new engine, in a smaller hull it failed. This hull size came about so it would pass sad test. I would imagine if the SJ came with the 1800 motor, it would be similar in size. But because the 1050 / TR1 Engine has a lighter weight, the hull is a bit smaller.
