New member and first ski advice

Hi everyone - I am new to the forum but been reading posts for a while. Always have wanted a stand up jet ski and will make the investment for next season. I tried riding a super jet a few years back for about 15min, it was a 2015 at a friends house. It was a bit rough to get up and stay up....
But I was 30lbs heavier and not in good shape. I am currently 51 years old, 225lbs at 6ft 4inch height, and now in good shape. I am sure it will be a challenge at first but look forward to the challenge of learning. I want to just have fun, no racing, acrobatics, ... what would you get if you were me? I am open to new or used not really concerned about the price. My current thinking in order are: new superjet, used SXR 800, and a distant third new SXR 1500. I like the idea of the new superjet - only question is given my size is it too small? The 800 SXR would be ideal I think given the larger tray but will need to buy used and really don’t want to spend time on a lot of maintenance, the SXR 1500 seems too large with less maneuverability. So these are opinions based off no real world experience. What do you all think would be best for a larger newbie rider? Thanks for the help.

If you have no experience then it’s hard to say what you would like. The Superjet is probably going to be the best of all worlds. Most important thing is to find a group local to you so you can ride with other guys and just get a ton of tray time. I’m 235 6’2” and I have ridden most every thing. Going to pick up a super jet project this afternoon. Also welcome to the addiction.

Hello my friend. I am 6'4" 235 pounds. I always wanted a stand up but never rode one or any jetski for that matter. One day I said screw it and signed the loan papers on a 2018 superjet. I didn't buy one used because they are up there in price. Why pay $6500 for used when I can buy brand new for $8500. Anyways I did a lot of research before buying and wanted an all around ski. I ended up with the superjet for its versatility. Sxr 1500 is sexy but way too heavy. The first time out I couldn't even pull my self up. Second time riding I was kneeling attempting to stand. Third time out I was standing. I was completely out of shape but I was hooked. I was concerned about my size and weight but the superjet has no problem ripping me around and its stock. But I do highly recommend 0 degree bars, blowsion pole spring and odi grips that are thicker because we have big hands and being so tall it took tons of weight off my back and I can ride for a good 3 hours without resting. I also got an intake grate and ride plate makes a huge difference as well.

Hope this rambling post helps. Get the superjet you wont regret it. It was the best compulsive buy I have made in my life.
