Too bad the used vehicle market is so heavily controlled by the US car manufacturers. I hate overpaying for transportation devices.

I do 50k + miles per year
my '06 acura RSX is over 200k with no issues
cannot do that with a used car

I bought my last car with ~260k miles on it 2 years ago. it now has ~340k. The only repair was a new rear end center section which was $30 at the junk yard.

Why not?
You could buy a 1-2 year old used car with 25k-50k miles on it for thousands less than new . Why couldn't you drive over 200k with it?

because most used cars are ripoffs with concealed defects in my experiene
I will not buy used again unless it is from a freind or someone I know
buy them new and run them to 500k to get your money out of them

I have a hard time wrapping my head around this. Even if this was your true experience, it's anecdotal. most used cars are not rip offs but all new cars are.

Don't worry about that gentle break in. It's already been done for you by those who get to drive that car before it even sees a dealership.

i do commercial HVAC work an got a company work van that i get to take home every day. i put about 300 bucks a week in it cuz i do alotta work far from home. luckily i turn the receipts in and get the money back in my paycheck. i may fill my own lil s-10 up once every 3 weeks. plus i still live at home an pay my mom only 300 a month rent. yea im 25 an still livin at home but i got a cool mom, sweet hot tub thats gotten me laid plenty of times, and a jetmaniac/blue 771 bigbore motor comin my way in about 2 weeks!! ill move out sooner or later im just never gonna have kids, cuz when i have kids then i cant be a kid no more and gotta give up all my sweet toys

For the money id pay for a decently low miled truck, i could go spend a few extra throusand and get a regualr cab dodge with a hemi. with zero miles! then i would be able to haul my ski around because i hardly get out of the water and up the ramp in my 4 cyl, mazda.

Side note: Did 2 jump subs yesterday spent the whole first day i had my ski trying to sub that thing and couldnt get the angle. spent the next day just working on jumping that thing out of the water, then got 3 complete subs in a row

My 4cyl Ranger (same motor) pulls my ski up from the ramp just fine. :dunno:
A new truck is nice, but the financial implications are horrible. Really think about if you want to settle yourself with that much debt.


(That said, my Ranger is probably totaled after an accident last week. So I need to get something new to drive as well. I'll probably wait on the insurance payout and then buy an older truck with that cash.)

The reg cab dodges start around 22k. That's a hell of alot better then 32k for a new full sized chevy. At a local dealership they tried to price me a colorado for 19,8. an 06 with 67k on it :/. no thanks!

I pull about 300 a week but i havent worked a full week since i started. I've been driving my moped around. 80 yah Champ. It's the ! My truck cant make road trips or anything of the sort. It's time for an upgrade.
