BTW . . . How come your e-box doesn't look like someone put half a handful of baking soda in it like the 15 year old one that came out of my Square nose !

Yes, this is an old thread, but I used Waste Land's Tech thread today while installing my MSD Enhancer while everyone else was riding in Daytona. At least I was doing something with my SJ. :wavey:

And it was good to smell 2 stroke oil and to hear some Brap for the first time in 2 months. Of course now my cellar is as smoggy as East LA.

Thanks Jesse, your tips helped a lot.

Where in Alabama are you located? I am in Huntsville, there are a few of us from AL on here, we need to get a ride together.

Does anyone know how to set the rev limiter to a desired RPM if you do not currently know were it's set? Like how many turns out is 8K? or 7500k.

It comes factory set at 8K, it maxes out at 9K which is fully clockwise. Every 1/3 of a turn is 1100 RPM. The adjustable range is 5500 to 9000 RPM.

The MSD Enhancer CD Ignition has a built-in user
adjustable rev limiter which offers an adjustable rpm
range from approximately 6,300-8,500 rpm. This rev
limiter has a MSD factory pre-set of approximately 8,000
rpm. However, before mounting the ignition into the
electrical box, you may adjust the rev limiter to your
desired rpm.
1. Using an 8mm wrench, back off the lock-down nut
on the potentiometer shaft. With a small flat blade
screwdriver you will now be able to turn the pot shaft
freely.

2. To increase the rpm of the rev limiter, turn the
potentiometer shaft clockwise. One full clockwise
rotation will give you the maximum rev limit available,
approximately 8,500 rpm.

3. To decrease the rpm of the rev limiter turn the pot shaft counter-clockwise. One full rotation will
give you the minimum rpm limit of approximately 6,300 rpm.

4. Once you have set the rpm limiter to your desired setting, tighten the lock-down nut on the
potentiometer shaft (using the 8mm wrench and the screwdriver to hold the shaft in place).
This will prevent the rev limiter from changing rpm.

Strange that the RPM range differs from the printed instructions that came with my MSD. No matter, I cranked mine to '11' :cheer:

always check them, a buddy bought one years ago, we installed it, ski ran like crap. He never touched the rev limit adjuster, it was turned all the way down. I always turn it all the way up then back off about 1/8 turn or so.

The red wiring part kinda confused me a little. I hav a used MSD and it only has one red wire coming from it. I cant figure out how to splice it into the red wire in the box. I was hoping to look at the pict on the other thread, but they dont come up anymore. Any help on this one.
