just finished building my new singletrack weapon

03 kx 250
suspension revalved for offroad
acerbis handguards (swapped out the cycra barkbusters in the pic, made the bars way too stiff)
protaper bars
scotts steering dampner
tag rubber mounted triple clamps
fmf gnarley pipe (not in the pic, killed the PC works pipe the day this pic was taken)
stealthy 13oz flywheel weight
bridgestone 603/604 tires
Works Connection skid plate
IMS 3gal tank
pro circuit pegs
vforce reeds/reed cage

bike is so much fun...with the flywheel weight this thing is a tractor on the bottom but still screams when u get it on the pipe..super lightweight..makes a 450 feel like a pig

ill prob put a 18" rear wheel on it and im getting a different skid plate that provides more coverage

Sweet bike bro. I just got rid of my 450 last year and rode a 250 2-stroke for the first time in a couple years a week or two ago...needless to say I'll be riding a 2 stroke in a couple weeks. Its unbelievable how much lighter and compact the 2 strokes are now

so much more fun too...its way more fun when u actually have to work for it instead of just twisting the throttle... unfortunately the track by my house is a full on 450 track..110' uphill jumps and deep loam, also all the ruts get squared off from 450 riders with zero corner speed..its hard to keep momentum on a 2stroke out there....ive been riding a 125 there but im too big for it and theres a couple jumps i cant do..gotta hit em in 4th tapped and theres like 30ft of uphill run up after a single..easy on a 450 not so much on a 125...im looking for an 06 RM 250 for the track...

if your buying new you should get the new ktm 250 SX...ive hear they are unreal...or if u ride offroad too get a ktm 300 XC...ive heard they are like cheating..lots of bottom end and the best part is you can ride it offroad or moto

Yeah, my 450 didn't make me work for very much except when I rode trails. I'm shootin for a 06-08 RM250. Idk about in Cali, but there about 1800-2500 in the South and in immaculate condition. I ride about 70/30 track to trails.

The pipe and flywheel weight made a big difference..i added a spacer where the pipe goes into the cyl which helps...its lugs down low now... doesn't rev very quick but for offroad it works well...

still have my kdx if anyone wants to buy it

:lmao:

I like KDXs for what they were- A great beginner's bike for under $4K new that responded well to upgrades.

Nice bike Andrew. My buddy rides an '04 KX250, I like it a lot other than the lack of bottom end power. Did that FMF pipe make much of a difference?

18" rear was the best upgrade I ever did to my yz250. I used a trials tire also which made it even better. I also love the steering dampner and will not ride without one ever again!

yea i was running one on my last bike...works really well except for steep loose downhills

got to test the kx on this private moto track today...it was so fun....its like moto heaven ..track is fully landscaped around the sides with a sprinkler system used to be in the moto mags back in the 90s allot...

pics do not do it justice...perfect prep with some tech jumps..you can link it up to this ungroomed sandtrack thats all singletrack...so fun on a two stroke..

Sick I haven't play rode on a track since 2005 or 2006. I tore into my old KX service the powervalves and found a ton of stuff that needs fixed. Piston, cylinder replated, cltch basket, plates and hub, cran an rod bearings..... Ugh, I guess that's what happens when abused bikes get old.
