I am not so sure they tooled up to produce those cases , they look like some type of Snowmobile cases where you had a jackshaft running off of the center of the crankshaft to drive a water pump , of course there is no gear or shaft on this engine but look at the spacing between the crankshaft webs , supposedly that's to get larger transfer ports in , I am still trying to figure out exactly what cases they used for this engine.
The cases were designed off the ski-doo 850 snowmobile.

I have not been inside of a kv1200 but I have had a 997 apart and held the cylinder in my hands to get a good look and also I'm familiar with how a cylinder reed intake works in general.

So for a 997 what you said about cylinder sleeves would make no sense because the intake goes through the sleeves into the cylinder and into the transfer ports through boysen ports, not under. The length that the sleeves extend down into the case would have nothing to do with restricting the intake.

Maybe the 1200 is different and does something wierd.

Or maybe you don't know what you're talking about.

Hard to tell.
I never had the pos in my possesion. I had it directly sent to a guru that knows 2 stroke junk and jetski junk . Senor/ muffer marc cassina. I wish he would get on here and educate everybody that is so content to argue with me about his findings. He's already been in there with his porting tools fixing the total $hit show that is kv junk. All i have to do is say or list anything to attract conflict. That idiot waterhawk Travis started the ball rolling about 20 years ago telling me my business of selling parts. I got no problem giving it to anybody with both barrels if they open their mouth to me. I rarely open my mouth unless I'm just about positive of what I speak. I hate sticking my foot in my mouth. I like the crown but but I always knew I was the undefeated champ with my fight IQ
