New prop, now it won't spin

Ok so we just finished installing a new hooker 10/16 in my friends SJ, and it seemed tight, and now the driveshaft won't even spin. Any ideas? Maybe the driveshaft is mis aligned? I know the pump was recently rebuilt, but I've never experienced this?

You may need a spacer behind the impeller, it may be tightened onto the stator.

Well someone mentioned that. But the thing that makes me think it's not necessarily that is that the wear ring was extremely tight to the point where as soon as the prop went into it, it wouldn't spin.

is the wear ring corroded and pushing out anywhere? maybe the old prop wore into it and the new one is just too big?

Doesn't seem to be any high spots and the old prop for the most parts slides right in..old prop was a Solas 14/17..it's literally like the new prop is just a hair too big..someone mentioned the wear ring "swelling" from corrosion build up between the housing and the ring..but I cannot tell as the tolerances are so right..

I would measure the impeller diameter and compare.

When I installed my SBT Wear ring and new 10/16 prop I couldn't spin it by hand. Just to damn tight. But luckily the engine got it going.

Well this is so tight I doubt the engine could get it spinning..it's so tight a wrench on the end of the driveshaft with a ton of force won't spin it..

Edit: that's with a spline tool on it of course

put a little oil on it or wd40 and try to spin it.

Here's the pricey solution to that swollen wear ring. yes, it does happen.

Tried wd-40..and know for sure he won't be going for the stainless wear ring lol..seems like a new wear ring may be in his future

Most likely the wear ring is bad and swelled from corrosion. The old prop was worn down on outside edge so it wasnt an issue yet. New prop is the size it should be but now wont fit swollen wear ring. Be careful not to destroy the new prop in this wear ring if this is the problem. Do not try to run it!!

Yeah, he is ordering a new wear ring. Definitely wasn't going to run it that way with a brand new prop. I doubt it would have even started.

Im having a similar issue. Drive shaft locks up when prop is fully tightened. I have tried with and with out washers behind prop and same result. Anyone else have this problem?

Are you sure your not installing a small hub prop in a large hub stator?

The prop is a solas yb-sc-k 15-19. The ski is 96 wb1 stock pump. The solas prop chart says it will fit the ski.

Also the previous owner heated the prop to remove it. Don't kno if that could cause this.
