Freestyle New Pump + Trim

Hey Guys,

I am looking for a new pump setup and I have a couple of questions. I have a Hurricane Eclipse with an ET 967, Torrent 148mm Setback Pumo, OEM Igntion with MSD enhancer, Dual 46mm Mikuni Carbs, and a PowerFactor Exhaust.

I am looking to upgrade my pump and trim setup and I have a couple of questions.

The first question I have is what pump I should be looking into getting. I can't find much information on the difference between the Torrent 155mm and the Torrent 155mm Pro. Those are the two pumps I am looking into so far but I am open to other options. I am strictly a freestyle rider so I am looking for a pump that will give me the most air and allow me to land compos. Any information between the two would be greatly appreciated.

The second question I have is what trim system to run. I am currently running the Trust Innovations 144-148mm Trim system but will need to upgrade to a 155mm trim system. So far I am looking into the Pitch Components Trim System, Raptor Trim System, and the Xscream X-metal pro trim system. Again I am open to other options. Any information on these trim systems would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

1) Call Torrent. Brian will be most knowledgeable about the differences between his pumps, but I believe one of the differences is the torrent pro is lighter than the regular torrent.

2) You obviously cannot go wrong with the raptor trim. But if you are on a budget the gen 1 xscream would be a good choice, but it does require some love to get the most out of it.

On the trim side i ran a Old school xscream then bought the new xs trim witch i ran 2 times and took of, was realy bad compared too the old xs trim. I am now running a pitch trim witch was night and day difference over both xs, and with the option too change bore size it gives pump tuning a new option. And cant go wrong with full billet, have never seen a raptor trim.

If you are looking for the most absolute performance the torrent 157 pro is going to be the ticket without stepping up to the ninja pump. The 157 only comes in the Pro line because of pump changes. I am running one that is being pushed by a 964.

The best way to describe the different between a pro 155 and a regular 155 is simply the pro is going to get you an aluminum housing/wear ring. This makes the pump lighter for competition. Unfortunately I don’t have the spec on hand. With the pro other specs about the pump can be played with more as it’s tailored to the rider. Both work exceptional well.

As for trim I posted somewhere talking about the pitch vs the raptor already. I am running a pitch system now. I am happy with it but definitely had to do some playing with it to get the most out of it, but you are going to have to do that with any system. I feel that the parts quality is slightly better then the raptor system.

I had a call with Brian at Torrent around this time last year. Nice guy with loads of knowledge. He will give you every bit of information you are looking for, and will tell you the optimum setup for your ski and riding style. I ended up getting a 155 with a raptor trim. If I hadn't talked to him, I wouldn't have gotten the extra small parts to optimize the setup. It was expensive, but I have no regrets. The raptor is the way to go for sure.

To sum up, call Brian.

I would talk to him about making your current pump work better. That should be a monster setup you have there.
