The hull is shorter. See the pump sticking way, WAY out in the screen shot above.

Check out :28 There is about 3 inches missing from the front of the tray. Plus the back of the deck is all rounded off and sticks out further than a normal FS-1

At :41 (when he is 3/4 of the way around) you can see the ride plate is almost non-existent.

I'm obviously a huge Rickter fan, but most of this looks like it was just copied from Lenzi's new hull. Has freestyle gone this far so fast? In 2008 a normal Rickter FS-1 won World Finals. A plain jane FS-1 is a fun all-around ski. It's no bouy boat, but it's not awful. Now just 3 years later it takes a special ski with a top speed of what?..15 mph to be competitive?

I would like to see modular stuff for this new ski to "tune" the hull for your type of riding that day. The pole and foot holds are already adjustable. Now we need a removable extended ride plate (maybe already doable if the mounts are there) and removable hull extensions (or a T shaped ride plate that has hull extensions built in).

Or here is an idea, how about an adjustable ride plate inside a ride plate..you could basically pull it out and set it to length then lock it down.

Or a ride plate that was sorta like trim tabs. Set it flat for chasing cruisers and have a cable or hydraulics that pull it up for flatwater stuff?

That modular adjustable stuff has already been done - see the new Lightweight.de ski that Norbert Weber built. I got a chance to check out a couple of them at Surf Slam and they are work of art. Hull length, holds, rideplate and tray are all adjustable.

I saw Norberts ski on PWC TV OMG the thing just oozes quality

but adjustable hull length and everything else?
how is that done?
only draw back is VERY expensive
but the carbon pole i saw on PWC TV was AWESOME looking too, reminds me 24-7's original work, great attention to details/quality

I wonder why in the earth Yamaha or Kawi do not make a freestyle ski (since this sport is clearly developing) - with all the market inputs they could really pull off a full FS ski at a price tag of 7-8K.... maybe the emissions control is a major factor into bringing something new..?

I GOT WOOD, I GOT WOOD, I GOT WOOD. I was waiting for them to make this thing shorter and lighter. If the specs are what I think they will be I and it is affordable in carbon, like &7K or less I am thinking HE!! YEAH! Looks and function both now it looks like. I know the others were fine in surf but IMO not good Flatwater hulls.

Considering the standard Rickters cost $9,500 for the carbon version, I have a hard time seen these new ones being substantially less expensive or much lighter.

Assuming they are shorter, One would think a little lighter. Also, Are there not some new Rickters posted up at $7500 NOW?
The price will come down by the time I have my piggy bank full and ready to send to Rick.

We'll see. I hope you're right, but I'm not that confident in thai mass produced hulls.
Rickter standard pricing is $6.5k for glass and $9.5k for carbon. The one you saw for $7.2k was an inventory liquidation. It's worth noting that the full carbon Rickter is still well into the 70's for weight AND may need additional reinforcing. Hence my lack of confidence. Very sweet ride, though.

I would agree with you 100% ! less hull doesn't mean less Money. Hell, in today's economy, manufacturers are giving less for the same price (especially with food items)

great hull if you plan on riding just flat water

All of those points are IMO very Valid, and the reason I do not own one currently. My hope though is that Rick has done the math and testing and is realizing the need for lighter, smaller and stronger hulls. As for the foreign mass production thing, yeah, not my first choice either but honestly I have not seen perfection here either, prolly just smaller margins here and less head ache. There are more than one NEW Carbon hulls out there at $7500 currently. Lets hope they are getting easier and cheaper to build and that a saturated market of AM Hulls does what is typical to the pricing.
