Surprising things that are considered taxable by the IRS :
1. Social Security income , if you have substantial other income sources
2. Alimony , if you pay it you can deduct it if you receive it ,it counts as income
3. Alaska permanent fund dividends , Alaska has no income tax but it counts on Federal income tax
4. Bribes , if you accept a bribe the IRS expects you to count. it as income, good luck on that on one
5. Canceled debts, if you have a debt forgiven it counts as income and usually you will get a form in the mail concerning this.
6. Income from illegal activities, pimps and drug dealers beware
7. Gambling winnings and losses, most already know this but if you have gambling losses in the same year you can offset them.
8. Bartering, if you swap parts here you are expected to put a specific value on the parts swapped and received, again good luck on that one
9. Stolen or found property, you are expected to report the value of it, yeh again good luck
10. Free tours and trips, you are expected to include the value of those as income , yeah right
11. Jury duty pay is considered income, I wonder if you can offset the loss you got from missing work while on jury duty, seems fair to me
12. Kickbacks , side commissions or similar payments , got you palm greased , pay up sucka
13. Strike and unemployment benefits, yep you are broke and out of work but the taxes keep on coming
