New Thrust Steering

A buddy told me about it, so I went to the Thrust site and checked it out. I must say that it looks like a high quality, well thought out/executed piece of trick dick hardware that definitely has its place in todays jet skiing. I am surprised that there was no thread in the New Products section. Looks like it could be a money saver in theory, no more trying different bars, and the ability to adjust height for surf or flat like pole length with the same bars.

they look nice. Curious about them myself. I like the feature of being able to tilt the bars but I would be worried about that on a hard landing giving way but i can't tell much from the assembly from that pic.

Sorry to high jack a old thread. But I just picked up one of the new shorty versions in blue for my 2014 sj w. Stock pole.
Looks like I have to modify to install. The bottom spider bracket with the four holes doesn't match any holes on my stock pole. Not even sure it will fit. Has any one installed this on a stick super jet?

Post a picture....it should fit. Try rotating that spider bracket 90 degrees.

You have to drill the 4 holes to mount it on an OEM pole.

Ok here a couple photos. If you look at the photo with the unit sitting on top. Which I believe is the way it suppose to be installed. The stop/limit tabs are barely catching the stop block.

What do you guy think!

As @JetManiac said above, you will have to drill those 4 holes. My mistake, I thought stock poles had those 4 holes already drilled but I guess all of the stock poles I have ever had were already drilled by previous owners.

Looks like you have the steering positioned correctly. After you drill the 4 holes, the countersunk bolts will go through the poles steering plate and then lock nuts are used underneath I believe. And the steering stop may be too low, but could work. Blowsion on other companies make taller steering stops.

I would fab something to make steering stop taller or cut it off and bolt a taller steering stop. That small overlap would worry me.

I am looking to do something similar. Tired of my stock steering on my 08 and can't afford a blowsion ovp set up. What are you running for your steering cable? Did you end up modifying the stop?

Steering cable is the stock o.e.m. 2014 cable. I have the cable mounted on the middle hole of the thrust steering unit.

As far as the steering stop. I haven't had any issues with it so far. It seem to be working fine. I ment to order the after market one that Blowsion sells. But haven't yet. Funny thing is the Superjet service manual show the o.e.m. steering stop as a screw on. But mine appears to be casted into the pole.

The unit really does look trick. Plus its super smooth

Stock 2014 cable. Haven't cut the old steering stop off yet. Seems to be working fine so far.

Btw I had the x-scream steering system before this but wanted to go with the fat bars. Both these system shorten the pull -4". And both are super smooth when installed correctly. I'm a new rider, but even I can tell the ski response faster with the shorter pole.

I didn't take any pictures of the install but here's my take on it.

I have run rrp fatbar system with bushings instead of bearings for a few years now with no issues and nothing but satisfaction. I wanted to make the switch to OVP and I was talking with brian at thrust. He swore up and down that this is the best steering I would ever run so I took a chance.

My only complaint is that I didn't do this sooner! The steering system is like a Rolex watch movement. It's almost to smooth it's crazy. The way the bearing system works is genius. After seeing EVERYONE else's steering systems I can tell this truly will be maintenance free. So stoked!
