New to superjet, Need Opinions

Hi everyone, im new to superjet and any pwc/marine in general...

Im looking to buy a superjet, this one to be exact.

The seller is very helpful and quick to answer all my questions...
Riva performance kit.
Says about 20-30 hours since he bought it with the Riva kit on it.
No trailer.
Says compression test was 172/170/... and is going to do another one with pictures for me tomarrow...

I understand I will need to learn how to ride basically but i want to have something with a little more power so i dont dump $$$ into it and then sell it and lose my ass on the deal. What are you guys opinions on this jet, ive seen a few for alot less in price but basically stock.

This will have all the power youll want to start. Find out what the dome size if for the motor. 170/172 sounds like a wearing out motor thats supposed to be at 180-185 with 35cc domes.

Theres about $1500 in parts on that ski if my math serves me right. you wouldnt need to do much of anything to be more than happy with it.

Id say no. Similar ski's are on here for around 5-5500. Also the rive stage 1 kit is for racing, not freestyle. So if you dont want to race you'd have to change a few things. Id look through the ad's on here to see whats available.

My Superjet with a fresh rebuild 1mm over bored with 35cc domes gave me 210psi and the 37cc domes gave 170psi.

Things don't always match up with the charts and a change in dome size is more than just 10cc.

I wouldn't be afraid of a motor with compression that close.

I forgot to add that my intentions are to do freestyle riding.. crj mentioned this kit is more for racing.. I will probably ride flatwater most often but maybe at the beach also.

Arent brand spanking new ones going for $7999? I know I saw last years models going for $6999 a couple months ago. Then again that doesnt include taxes and dealer fees. His engine bay looks filthy though. I'd say find one for a bit cheaper if its used and one that looks pristine. There are plenty of them out there. I just dont think his is the one.

A sj is huge by today's standards for aerial flatwater fs. And the 08+ hull is more sought after for race handling. You would be fine with any older sj. Find one that's set up for free ride that's where the sj shines.

If you are up for doing a little work (and taking a risk on something not completely working), I'd consider this ski.

I would take it to someone to get it running (like Jetski Joe in Austin) or someone similar. Then learn to ride. Later these would be good pieces to move into a new hull. I have done essentially this on my build here though I didn't get as good a deal on the donating hull.

The stocker would be a good starting ski of its in very good mechanical condition.

These are the 2 things I think you should find in a first ski.
1) excellent mechanical condition, try to get a year of riding in without turning any wrenches. Ride, not wrench.
2) a fair deal. Not necessarily an omg what a steal, but something you can expect to resale in a year for very close to what you paid for it. That way, after you have some saddle time, made some friends and tested some options, you can sell it for a ski you want for the long haul.
