New to the fx1 got some questions

So got lucky and found a 95 fx1 in fairly good shape for its age looks to be stock I've placed a bilge cut the hand pole since it was hammered only took a little off but will probably take more off soon. I'm looking for a good pipe and I'm doing the kawi pump swap that brings me to my questions!!! I'm 5'7 260+ I'm kinda using this as my get out and do something that try's me as well as to lose some weight most likely I'll never be below 220 and I don't want to do things twice since this sport is pretty pricey, I like free riding so I'm in it for the bottom end what's the best setup for me and my fx1, prop, footholds, motor mods and so on. I'm for sure using the kawi pump since I have one with the x2 trim. I'll also install a tbm pro when I do it all this winter... Thanks again!!!

Well I've learned over the year that you gotta pay if you wanna play, mainly I just want to do it in the right order I'm a machanic so I'm gonna do it all my self except porting I'll have my friend do that he's got a flow bench.. Basically all I need to know is what impeller I should get for a soon to be piped pumped fx1. And when it comes to pipes would a r&ad rev fit if I modded the hood

A stock 61x 701 in the Fx1 can be improved upon. this is nothing new as well as the small 122 pump in the hull. Since you have the Kawasaki x2 140 pump already. then it is a decent pump for your free ride needs. by using it over a Yamaha 144 you eliminate the need for a mid shaft. All your pump swap info can be summed up here: http://www.x-h2o.com/index.php?threads/another-dang-fx1-pump-thread.10462/

AS far as a prop for the kawi 140, look for the stock SXR 800 swirl prop. They can be had cheap and yield very good results. If you use the TBM core sleeve it will really help the large hub prop. But you will need to get a shim spacer for the core sleeve. Rad Dudes has them.

A Factory Mod pipe may be your best bet on the aftermarket pipe situation. As well as a Ada cylinder head or similar with 35cc domes . An MSD enhancer for your ignition system. Make sure your carb is jetted properly to which ever pipe you choose to run. If you have the cylinder off, To have it ported as you say.. Then that is another factor in the tuning of your Air/Fuel.. FYI a flow bench does not constitute a good porting job if the person is not familiar with the product he is working on. A lot of these engines have gone south due to porting attempts. Its best to get someone who is experienced with these 61x jugs and has some performance and reliability along with it. Not saying anything in regards toward your buddy. Just Forewarning you. Good Luck post up a build so we can see it.

Thank you for a the info I've been reading treads before I joined. Just got some emails back from David at impros he's gonna set me up with a 140mm hooker 9-15 and a tbm or r&d cone...any input on which one would be great... I've read how people can screw up porting my friend owns a bike shop do given that he probably will so I'll be very careful.

Heed the warnings. If your gonna port, take it to someone who knows how to port the 61x cylinders, less stress and that in my mind is worth the money in its self. If the ski runs without a problem now you probably dont need to run a leak test, although its always good to double check. Xh20 is all about protecting your investments and doing it right. If your planning on cutting corners, my advise is dont. But i cant stop you.

I'm diffenitely not going to be cutting corners I would take it to someone that I didn't think could do it right! Porting is an art... My goal is to build it right the right way the first! Been riding 650sx for awhile too so this isn't my first ski either I guess I left out some info

FX1's are a lot of fun with those mods. Not sure if you mentioned it, but a MSD enhancer is a good thing to add to ^^^ list. If you run a lowered poll bracket, I have a design for a pole lock so it doesn't fall on your head :) .

Not sure what your budget is, but I have a FX1 B-pipe and Chamber i'm not using. PM me if you're interested.

I found a riva red pipe blaster chamber I remember seeing that rad dudes has a connection pipe to use it in a fx or super jet just wonder if it's a good pipe the guy is asking 375 I'm sure I can get it for 300 I think it's a wet pipe... Good deal??? Or bad? I'm not scared to make it fit like hood mods or cutting re indexing.

A riva red pipe made for a blaster will not fit a fx1 without some major cutting and rewelding and trimming the fat off the top of the chamber where it meets the fx1 hood liner. Riva did however produce a red pipe for the fx1 many years ago. they are hard to find but still great pipe. and yes they are technically wet pipes but you can run them damn near dry with some water routing changes.
