This is somthing I've been working on the past 3-4 weeks. I've put my light weight hood on hold to complete this as I feel there will be a larger market for it. I have put this kit together in order to chop your stock hood and utilize the excellent drainage system of the stock hood. Believe it or not the stock hood has a well designed intake labyrinth the problem with it is the forward facing air intake scoop.
In addition this kit will get your stock hood down from over 15lbs to 11lbs. 11lbs is ballpark for an aftermarket hood that will withstand the abuse of freeriding and at a fraction of the cost. The kit will include the top cover piece, underside air intake duct and a stock intake block off. In addition it will include a complete set of instructions on how to properly chop off the nasty X2 hump and install the kit components.
The kit is based on the mod I did to my own hood a couple years back which I found worked amazing. If I had known it would work so well I wouldn't have bothered to install a scupper. Attached are pictures of the kit along with it in process of being installed on a customers hood. Note nothing has been epoxied in place yet. I will be selling this kit on ebay for $180 but will offer it to members for $150. I will also offer an additional $25 off if purchased with the lowered steering cover. I will post more pics as it is completed.
