Newbie on a Rickter Carbon Core XFS Dasa 1000cc

@hugebass: Would you please come back often and share your experience(s)? I, with no doubt many others, dream of buying a Rickter Edge FR with a DASA 1000 (for me not as a flipper but as a boat wake and ocean surf ski), but cannot justify the money (at least until my skills improve and I see if my knees improve after upcoming stem cell injections …).

I don't know about the 2008+ SJ hull, but as for the 1994 SJ hull either I don't have the skills for it or at 204 lbs. I weigh too much for it, but I don't like the hull. I love the hull on the X2, I think because it is wide. I have a love hate relationship with the 1993 550sx hull , but I have decided it is too narrow for me and I over weight the tray.

So, I for one, say: GoodOnYa'M8!!! Go for it!

But don't fear to share your embarrassments along with your accomplishments here. It's only fair.

I, and no doubt many others, will have to live vicariously through you at least for a little while longer.

And with apologies to all you experts out there, a first timer's Rickter newbie experience will in some ways be more enlightening.

No question. I agree, only fair. I will really try to keep my feedback going, even when it's embarrassing. I'll start a new thread for people to tell me what I don't want to hear. Which I'd welcome. That type of feedback is far more valuable.

[R]ealizing what I wanted to accomplish. What I learned was *not* to dump money into upgrading the 701, then later try to stuff it's motor in a Rickter hull only to realize down the road I wasted my money in regret. To do what I wanted to do, my only option was to donate my left nut and write a check but I certainly never felt pressured. In the long run, I think I'll save money because I didn't spend my way up to a plethora of upgrades to motors and hulls that wouldn't ever give me the end result.[/QUOTE]

You are on your path. Just a little more encouragement. I was told the same thing by someone who is very very very experienced with jet skis who has been there and done all that over the decades who told me when I asked about doing this and that to increase the performance of a particular vintage ski his answer was "But why?"

I am just keeping the vintage skis in tip top shape, hoping for the day to go modern with the power plant and the hull. If I could allocate the resources now I would do what you are doing with an Edge and a DASA 1000 (after demoing one).

Had a new Superjet for 6 months then bought an edge fr from Taylor. You won’t regret it. Hopefully you are near surf. I can hardly stand even going out if I know there aren’t any waves

What goodies are inside your Edge? Has it all been reliable or have you had to wrench on it?

Arizona lakes don't make waves. BUT, I'm very happy to hear you are pleased with Taylor and his work. I'm very much looking forward to it. So far, he's been a real kind person and never pressured me for a second to purchase from him. Pure class.

Haven’t touched 1 thing other than the pole coming loose on the tubes and adjusting my footholds.

Enhancer, jetinetinetics flywheel, dasa head, b pipe, cold fusion tank, 155 pump, billet pole with riser bars. on a new 701. Ski is fine for me in the surf. Rips around the lake just fine. Can do 180 stabs comfy off boat wakes with sponsons on. I am happy I learned on my sj tho. I think it was a great ski to get the fundamentals on

F canyon. Cops there suck big time. Beach is miles in back after a long, narrow canyon ride which is stupid. Go to bartlett. Pull your truck onto the beach and hang there all day with your extra gas, which you'll need. My superjet drank a 1/3 tank just getting to canyons beach. Big DASA engine with dual carbs and big pipe is gonna be at least a half tank just getting there and another half getting back. and thats if you use a full size tank in the rickter.

I figured it would be a gas hog. I'm putting 2 tanks in the Rickter. Full size front, smaller behind motor. Depending on what I want to do.

What's with the dig on cops? You get ticketed? I've been riding there for years...never had an issue.

They trolled up and down the beach with binoculars. Later they hassled me over my tags being under my hood. 2yrs and 5 encounters with bartlett cops same setup and those tags never once came up in conversation. Bartlett cops just cruise around and stop dangerous people, which I can respect.
Really though I just love parking in the beach with my trucks stereo, a grill, big ass cooler, snacks etc and not dealing with launch ramp idiots.
