Newbie

so for a newbie that just owns a JS550 ski and wants to do flatwater back flips, wake back flips and to just ride seems like the best bet is to get a whole new ski. That being said without dropping 4-8k on used ski I think I would like to start off with an engine and build it myself over the winter. So if I was going to start with an engine which one should I start off with 61x, 62T or 64U also having in mind to beef it up if need be on the cheaper side? I'm thinking 62T?

So starting off crankcase which would be the best choice used/new if used what should I look out for? New/used can you buy one with striker mod is this even needed or get it modded further down the line and buy a used running engine at moment?

Crankshaft new/used? Size?

Cylinders? Buy one new/used? Should it be new/used with cylinders bored out? Bored out to what extent?

Head? Buy new/used

Exhaust- new/used?

Intake new/used I'm going with ported definitely.

Carb new/used? Size? Single/double?

Exhaust-new/used?

Flywheel new/used? Lighten?

Electronics new/used? Total loss electronics new/used?

What else am I missing that would be very important besides Hull/Steering/gas tank?

If all you want to do is flatwater flip then start by buying a freestyle hull and drop in a 701 till you save up the big bucks. That's what I'd do before dropping a ton of coin on motor mods. I wish someone would've given me that advice off the bat *cough* @Roseand *cough*

If only you would have just listened... Lol.

A 701 in an am hull is flatwater flippable with some practice. But more ccs=way more fun for Flatwater. I'd highly recommend an HPE 5mil like the one @x2mafia has for sale. Add Oem dual 44 carbs and intake, stock electronics with an enhancer, lightned flywheel, any pipe on the market(I prefer the Tnt v3 for ease of tuning and awesome support) and that'll be able to flip any freestyle hull out there and be reliable and fun.

For a newbie you'd be ahead of the game if you started off with a modded RN hull first while working your way up the power chain. Aside from FWBF'ing you can do all the other tricks on a stock SJ hull anyways. You get the reliability plus it'll make for a way better boat chaser than a cheaper freestyle hull. Just my .02
