So Im currently running pro-tec modified dual 44 with there intake as well (no crossover)

Im trying to decide if i should go with xmetals modified dual 46s or the modified Boyesen Manifold...

I think I would notice more power with the carbs but the quick removal carb plate just sounds sexy sweet!!

my mani is good for 46 yes
I didn't realize that you could have the problem of carbs not working on a new Mani...I'm pretty sure they would work :S

I'll say it before someone else does.....Call Xmetal!!!!!!!

That being said I have 2 44mm mukuni's on a boysen intake. The carb removal plate is nice to have.

Why not make a trip to the bank and just get both ?

If the protec modifieds have been taperbored I seriously doubt you will feel much difference between taper bored 44's and the rejetted 46's. Now if you do get it and realize a decent performance gain I would attribute a good portion of the gain to the manifold and cages.

I just changed from some 760 dual 44's to GRS carbs similar to the blackjacks. The 44's were tuned pretty well and I'm still working out little bugs in the GRS carbs but OMFG what a difference. I was happy with my new motor when I got it but these new carbs have me literally smiling every time I yank the throttle.

Good to hear.... I remember your other thread asking about non-factory carbs vs. oems.

Thread jack:
ALL other things being equal (reeds, carbs, flame arresters), is there much performance gain in aftermarket intake manifolds?

Kinda my thoughts exactly. I talked to chuck this summer about that and he said that pretty much all intake manifolds are designed for racing, however the epoxied intake that he modifys gives a stronger quicker signal which is better for freestyle,

I missed the quick removal plate statement. My opinion with quick release is far from positive. 9 times out of 10, quick release means that you get to quickly release it 5-10 times more than you would've normally due to problems associated with the quick release system. The worst part is because you expect it to work, it's very hard to troubleshoot where the problem is.

The design looks pretty solid tho, and Ive got some pretty big hands and always slice them up everytime I try and work on the dam carbs

Lol, I'm one of those guys that's always fiddling around, I've never felt I've got them bang on, but if I just bought the 46 from Xmetal I would probably just leave them alown

I have never used the x-metals carbs but based on what Supertune has said about other carbs on here, I can't imagine that his carbs would require constant tinkering.
