Right now I have a 1990 and a 1993 550sx. I love these things but sooner or later im going to want more power like most people. What should I get? I like the 750sxi pro... Should I get that a SXR or Superjet?

Depends on what you want out of them. Play around, start doing rolls and such. Get a Superjet. If you just like cruising up the lake or ripping turns, get an SXR

What's the difference between the 2014 and 2015 superjet?
Dont get a 750sxi pro. The just dont ride very nice and if I remember correctly they dont have much more power than a superjet. IMO the 2008-2015 superjets are a good mix between a pre 08 Sj and an SXR. They are still lighter and more nimble than an SXR so you can throw them around a bit but they carve much better than the pre 08 superjets. If you still really like the feel of a 550 but want more power then try and pick up a yamaha fx-1. They are small like the 550's but they have a 701 in them :) If you have 9k to spend though you should just go with a used aftermarket ski. Thats what i wish i had done. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Has anyone here rode a 550 and a fx-1? I really like how the 550 rides and want to keep that feeling in my next ski. Is the fx-1 like the 550 just more power? If not what ski is closest to the 550 but more power?

I would say an fx-1 is the closest thing to a 550 with more power but they still aren't the same. It rides a little more stable but its still small and nimble. Its more squirly than a superjet though. the FX-1 is my favorite ski to ride.

So I think my decision is narrowed down between a superjet or a fx-1. I think whatever ski I can find the best deal on is the one I will get.

I would get a stock yamaha hull then move to a a/m later down the road. Fx-1 are pretty hard to come by, the ones around here sale for 2-2500. Rn superjets are usually 3k+.

I learned on 550s...then got a squarenose Superjet and got bored because they feel like a barge you can't fall off of on flat water (surf is very different). Then found an FX1 and never looked back. I've now had 4-5 on them and just got a new tom21 fx1 based AM hull. If you like the way your 550 rides then an fx1 is the next natural step. WAY more power bone stock and tons of potential as you start to crave more. The stock pump is the biggest limitation and after riding an fx1 for a year or two you will prob want to do a pump swap. A swirl prop will work well for awhile though

Nothing except MAYBE a color difference, superjets since 2008 have not changed an likely won't

They are guaranteed not to change unless Yamaha chooses to invest the finances and r&d into making a 4-stroke. Back when Kawi shut down production of the SX-R they were experimenting with a 4-stroke but never put it into production. There were massive changes in the EPA regulations basically saying that they could continue production of the 2-stroke stand-up JetSki providing there were never going to be further changes to the design as an entire model. Kawi didn't like being stuck on one aging platform so they dropped the line. Yamaha chose to stay with it but due to those regulations they can never change it other than colors which is why it has been unchanged since 08. If they were to change anything at all on the ski it would be considered new technology and therefore be legally obligated to have a 4-stroke engine to comply with the new emissions requirements. Yamaha believes that it just wouldn't be a SuperJet without a 2-stroke and so it will stay the way it is for the long foreseeable future.
