Nightmare

I was trying to remove the stock decals off my 99 sxi pro last, and yeah, I guess the color bled into the clearcoat somehow by using the graphic erasure thingy. Looks like I messed up a mint paint job. Dont do this!! any suggestions? im pretty positive it wont come out. I have tried goo gone, acetone, buffing, rubbing compound, nothing seems to work. There are purple smudges everywhere that seem to be IN the gelcoat...

try wet sanding with 1000-1500 grit sand paper.

Has anybody experienced this before? I will try wetsanding, although im not sure it will work. Rubbing compound did absolutely NOTHING.

wet sanding will.

the color has only permeated the top layer
you sand that off and it'll be good to go.
plus if you finish it right, it'll be like glass when you are done.

Been there done that-the guys are right-I wet sanded w/1000 and then 1500 and then buffed w/liq car wax-perfect.

if I sand any more, I will have to repaint either way. The gelcoat is nearly gone. I sanded even with 800 in a small area because I was desperate. It didn't even do anything. It looks just like it did before I started.

I'll try again though....................
