Loss of exhaust backpressure/torque, loss of hearing, drawing attention from law enforcement/everyone who wants to ban jetskis, friends won't ride with you.

But you already knew all that so you're probably going to do it anyway no matter what we tell you, right?

we put my buddies ski (sx750)back together this week and rode elsinore its maybe a tad bit louder then my 750.440 and 550s even most 650s with pipes are way more annoying then this thing. I know first hand ive had all these skis. seriously its not like omg I cant hear. yeah its louder but the resonator is still in and its nothing more then the loudness of pipes out there In the market . just my .02. although removing the water box is just temp.

Holy crap! That's my video from like forever ago when I was a total noob. Yea, don't do it man. It's way too loud to ride, you will piss off everyone around you and possibly get a citation from the water police. I changed it back right after that video was made. Even an ATP box with a side outlet got a lot of people mad at me years later. It ran better with a water box.

I agree that you should keep the water box for sure. I am also amused how most people are so concerned with noise, they same people that have "dried" out their water box with a bypass line or restrictor on the stinger. Ha Ha "Holier than thou",just sayin if y'all were that concerned you would'nt bypass water overboard.

Have you ever actually ridden with someone on a 750 with no waterbox? I have. The guy went down to a 8/16 pitch impeller to make up for his lost torque. It revved to the moon and was the loudest ski I've ever been around even with my Arai race helmet on. What was sad was my bone stock '95 SXi blew him away in acceleration and was a good 1-2mph faster on glass than his ski with big carb, porting, head, *waterbox removed*, etc.

I've been around a lot of loud skis like a 550 mod with MMF dual can resonator, 750 pro mod with just a straight resonator in the rear of the hull, SJ's with X-metal front exhaust only, a Kaw 750 with the exhaust coming out right at the battery, etc.

I guess you didnt read the first sentence. I agree that he should keep the waterbox is what I said. I also pointed out that if we were all really concerned we would'nt dry out our (me too) waterboxes. Not wanting to argue here JETT but I don't see your point about what I posted. I have only been around 2 or 3 skis, surely not as many as you. Don't understand what you're getting at here.

I think he was saying that your comparison is irrelevant-- there is a HUUUUGE difference between a ski that has its exhaust dried out, and one that is running without a water box. A ski with a pipe and less water going through the exuast is definitely noticeably louder, but it isn't "HOLY S what the is that d-bag doing?", which has generally been my reaction to a non-waterboxed ski.

You can dry out a stock box without adding much noise, most aftermarket boxes are designed to be louder and nothing else. It has been well studied, a louder vehicle always feels faster than a quieter one. Without instrumentation, perception is all we have. Plus most people want attention, especially when they are doing something that they think is cool.
