Noise complaints

How many have dealt with the old cranky "Ive been on this lake 40 years" jackasses that complain constantly about skis being too loud and too close to shore.......apparently the required 200ft isn't enough for him lol

Seems like its a often occurrence with the old fishermen on our local lake. 5-10 of us on skis always "scaring away the fish with those machines" and everyone is on stock 701 in my group. Im the only one with a pipe on mine. Getting the bird from someone on shore or someone starting an argument from a bass boat happens pretty often unfortunately. Respect always in mind.

Just try and be respectful, if they are sitting on the dock, try and go ride farther away..... I have let people ride my old SJ and old Freak and as they ride away I sat there thinking, That is loud as hell....... Obnoxiously loud...........

Hes never on his dock. Hes in his yard or in his house. Hes constantly a pain for EVERYONE in our resort.
I could understand no waterbox or front side exhaust. I run a jetmaniac waterbox and rear exhaust and motor out on my knees till Im a good 100 yards or more away then practice in a small area. EVERYONE else loves it and Ive moved a bit to close on occasion cause the kids love to watch.
IDK just pissed me off cause he didnt come talk to me. He bitched to the manager of park and manager laughed cause I was pulling in just then and said there he is ask him. We shall say it didnt go well lol. He said he was going to call cops so I offered to dial for him as I extended my phone.................Not the best way to make friends but when you know your within the law eh IDK

Im SUPER cautious with fisherman. To the point I stay off the lake in mornings and let them have their peace to fish.

I should also add that it’s a rec lake with no houses on it. I agree I always try and keep a good distance from them. But then again I’ve never seen any fisherman cursing out the 5-10 surf boats out there at any given time waking out the entire lake either.

Right!! Our surf boats are WAY worse for wakes...........my group runs a VT surf and an AXIS and thats some SERIOUS wakes!! Plus the stereos OMG!!
Half the time I cant do setup wakes cause the whole lake is rollers lol

Had a similar instance happen. A lady moved in about 5 houses down at the end of the beach. I was riding on a weekday afternoon and she had waved me down and asked to keep it down.. this was 1 in the afternoon. I said sure no problem and rode about 15 houses away from hers. That was the start of a downward spiral. I’d ride 2-3 times a week and kept distant from her house. She called the police every time i launched, went into the police station and filed multiple complaints, and even sat in on city council meetings to get Jetskis banned from Lake Erie in our city... lol! It was a huge s.hit show and ended up ruining part of the summer because my folks didn’t want me riding there anymore because they were getting harassed. The city ended up passing an ordinance against me that “all Jetskis must be equipped with a muffler”. The psycho lady ended up moving and the neighborhood is happy again.

Get Religion! Specifically Christianity.

O.k., that may not be necessary, but I still advise it.

And I haven't had to wear my Cross on the outside.

But there is a very diverse group of fisherman, bathers, dog owners, sit down riders at our put in. And many of them either have a different cultural background or national origion or language than my wife and me, but we have never had a problem. We ski wide-away from bank and boat fishermen. At the launch ramp, we make a point to say hello and to learn their names, to help them launch or re-trailer their boat ( because "I am already wet...") to ask them "How is the fishing?", to tell them where and what we saw in terms of fish and, if it seems like it would go over well I tell them that "We will do our best to drive the fish to them." And when we are done we wave goodbye and wish them good luck. And so far, they say "Thanks!"

Have you observed this too? "We are all out here to enjoy the sunshine and the water. And the fishing, boating, or jet skiing is just our personal excuse to be out here." Most people I say that to are friendly from there on and I make a point to remember them next time, because they sure will remember us, since we are usually the only stand up jet skiers out.

When I say something like that I am actually saying that we are special people because of all the millions of people around us in the Sacramento Valley, it is just the few of us here who are enjoying the same water and Sun, just doing it in different ways.

So far it has worked and I haven't had to wear my Cross on the outside.

Sounds like you handled it well lol, flip him the bird and keep doing your thing man. Everyone is always looking for something to cry about

Same as BK whenever someone else rides my skis I realize how loud they are. But then a jetboat goes by and I realize I am much quiet then that..

Im running an 865 with Bpipe and jetmaniac waterbox. IDK if it will exceed the 75db as measured at shoreline rule or not?!?!
Plus I run a 2 gallon tank and burn a gallon every 15 mins. Average ride 2X per day and on the worst days maybe 4 rides. So ole boy is bitching about what 1 or 2 hrs a day?! IDK Id just go inside for 20 mins lol

I hate to be captain obvious but...............As a group, old men are grumpy and jetskiers are rude and obnoxious.

Yup, misery loves company. Unfortunately that combination also requires persistence, something bored nosey people and jet skiers have in common.

I've been a little poop and also a complete gentleman in these situations and its best to be respectful and stay away as much as possible. You can't change their mind but you can cover your ass by following the rules and de-escalate in hopes they don't push farther. Sucks but what else can you do

Good point.
Sadly there was a small confrontation and an education of boaters/lake laws and why I was operating inside those laws and an invitation to call the cops as I knew I was in the right. This particular gentleman thinks he gets to make his own rules though so problematic and has been for years. His wife has pointed a gun at people in our park, he let his dogs attack someone here and he likes to hot rod through the easement/private drive through our park to get to his house.
Its a long standing feud Im just the latest target.

My experience has been once you transition from freeride to freestyle 99% of people go from hating you to loving you. There are still some who get cranky but for the most part, being upside down has cured 99.9% of the angry people I used to encounter jetskiing, now I get beers instead of middle fingers.
