Or eliminate the sensor for a switch or something ..... I've thought about using those inflatable bladder used in kayaks to stuff in front of my tank..

48 feet deep according to the divers. It was just east of the kiddie pool jetties at St. Andrews State Park.

I should submit it to Guiness' Book of World Records...
Thats crazy!!! We're making a trip down to Panama City from GA pretty soon to ride the jetti's, but at least I have insurance!

I'm liking the pop bottle idea. I made my own nose foams a couple years ago with 2-part foam, but they can't possibly be as bouyant as a 2-liter. Pool noodles seem to be enough to keep a hood afloat.

I stuffed my hull with foam pool noodles last time I went to Daytona because I don't have any foam or a bulkhead in my ski.

or even water bottles that are just crammed into the front part of your hull, nose area. they weigh nothing and provide lots of flotation in a tighter area.

they are easy to remove when done too.

Hard to beat the OEM foam, its water, gas and oil proof. Just curious, why aren't you using it? or will this be "in addition too" ?

look around for a stock nose foam....lots of people remove them for front exhaust.........IMO is invaluble

I have 2 long pool noodles running up my entire handlepole....and a chunk inside my front foothold

cant have too much foam...

I've always heard that pool noodles absorb some water, therefore adding weight and losing some bouancy?

I've been tempted to use ping pong balls in the gunwales. I have no foam in the nose either...

They do. I don't think it would be an issue in the handlepole but I wouldn't use it in an engine bay. Pool noodles break down after a while too, even without chemical or much UV exposure.

we can solve all the environmental issues by using water bottles.. haven't you guys heard... they don't break down. Perfect!!! Why even think a stupid pool noodle could accomplish what a simple cell with air filled in it can do? There is no way it can absorb water unless it breaks and that is easy to see... it's like common sense... ha ha...

you guys think I'm kidding but I'm being serious. they make auto inflating life vests, just adapt that system into an air bag that will deploy in the event of some catastpophic failure.. worst case senario... there is at least a float on the surface so you can locate it.
I don't think you're kidding.

I thought about a way to adapt a spearfishing float for use as a recovery buoy: http://www.speargun.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=46&Itemid=11

put some sort of a pressure sensitive trigger on it, or a water sensing trigger inside the engine bay were the ski should always be dry (yea, right) - and stow the bloat inside a front foot hold with the float bolted through the bulkhead and have a length of rope on it as well.
