Hey guys, I'm super excited to say I had a boat do some digging yesterday for me, about the 3rd attempt (on that wake not total) I actually saw the crystal clear water of Torch Lake come around. I nosed it in and maybe would of rode away but I hit bottom. Which after a few more attempts I headed in to find some carnage.
Knock off rrp chin pad broke in half, lost a motor mount bolt ( I think the couplers are ok but require farther investigation, and some how I punctured the long exhaust tube (probably unrelated).

we were rolling film but missed the shot, so you can see me leave the wake then hear my wife and my brother in law let out some happy yells.

Hopefully ill get the ski fixed up today and get back out there for some more. Any advice for the boat wake and hitting it? I am hitting the first wave maybe 10' off the back of the boat. The one that I flipped was a lot bigger than the others so I'm not sure what the driver did different.

Man you must be pumped!!! I haven't even tried for a flip yet

I am! I pretty much started trying the second time out on the ski, mostly off my own wake with no success. Then I tried a few Saturday off random boat wakes farther back. I finally got this one, so now that I know what it feels like I need to keep working on it so I can stick em every time.

Congrats Jordan!
Thanks Swanny I'm super excited, hope I can do it again and get it on video.

Flipping off a boat wake requires the boat driver to know how to plow a good wave for you. Which that one wake for you was by someone that knows how to plow.

Great ! well done ! just curious, did you change the impeller in the 145 mag or are you running the one I had?

He was figuring it out about as much as I was figuring it out. So hopefully he can remember how to get that good wave back as I can remember what I did. Lol

very nice! Matt_E posted a video of him hitting a couch v-wake. came right on around for him.

Hah, that was mostly a clowning around ting because we were bored and all the real boats were a few miles downriver at the hydroplane races. I didn't think it would work so well. And to be honest, it took me a few practice runs.

Flipping off a v-wake (even a small one) is easier than a regular boat wake because of how steep the lip is. If you do want easy flips off single wakes, have the boat go at optimum plowing speed - just below planing. Hit the wake as close to the boat as possible, and please take into consideration how comfortable both you and the boat owner are with it. I've hit it as close as 1ft behind the deck.
Remember that trim gives you rotation but no height, and no trim gives you slower rotation but height. You can compensate for slow rotation with body English, but you can't make up for lack of height.
That said, the couch flip was with trim.

As I remember it the couch v-wake was my idea. I had been shooting video of Matt doing 3/4 flips off his own wake all day. We had to try something. I just couldn't take anymore.

Haha, that's right! I still had the little motor in the Freak at that time. A better rider could have flipped off their own setup wake without too much trouble, I am sure.
