Novi 48 damage-fixable?

Ive been trying to reach Tim at novi but haven't had much luck.
Throttle plates are like new but there is still play in the inner bore. The novis are bored very thin towards one side of the bore so I figure someone here has seen this before. The plates have started to break away the metal by the throttle shaft exposing the bushing. I tried adding another nylon washer between the eclip and the carb body but then the plate just catches.
Not sure if you can just grind the loose pieces out, shim it between the eclip and carb body(or ditch the eclip and use a collar clamp to slightly pull the throttle plate to one side instead.) Plate may have a slight gap between the bore and the other sides throttle plate though. Or somehow put one of the nylon washers between the throttle plate and carb bore.
Thoughts?
Or are these carbs junk.

You can drill it out and put in a new slug, bushing, or what-ever. It wont be perfect but I've done it. I used brass from a hobby shop. They sometimes sell tubing and its close.

This happened due to side forces and can be eliminated with a clamp against the side of the seal on the shaft. Because this area is REALLY thin on 48's you need to run clamps/split rings on the side to prevent side to side walk. McMasters sell aluminum split collars

These were sold as "like new" with throttle shafts/linkage recently rebuilt
@MTRHEAD yeah the bushing idea sounds like a possibility, these are worn past where the stock bushing bottoms out on too. That area is so thin though. The novis use nylon spacers and then the clamp coupler to prevent side straining I thought? Last thing I want is to not have these "just right" and get metal through the motor like the previous owner.
Still no word from Novi.

I don't see what the problem is. it looks like the bushing will still slide in and not come out into the throat of the carb. just shim it like it should be so the throttle plate doesn't rub on either side of the throat. even if it had a huge air leak there, it barely if at all matters. once the throttle plate is cracked, it aint going to matter at all. WFO

if there was no lip on the inside and the bushing was able to push clear into the throat on the shaft and touch the throttle plate, you could just slide as many bushings as necessary on there until it came out to where the seal goes in. the shaft would be a tiny bit larger on that side of the shaft but I don't think that would matter either.

Press fit bushing, it shouldn’t move without the lip. You can give me those carbs before you scrap em!

Forgot to update! Tim at novi gave me a call about this. He told me to just get rid of the bushing lip and reassemble. As long as the throttle plates still seal decent when they're closed they should be just fine.
I just took a round file and it removed the rest of the lip on both carbs easily in a few minutes. He said it was fine if the bushing fits up against the throttle plate, but it's honestly such a tight fit I don't think itll move.

Also, he said he doesn't ever peen the screws. Just use Loctite 290.

Caution against not peening the screws. Check out the photo, imagine the result if these two screws were not peened. These are a pair of Mikuni 46’s that were removed from a running ski and I just happened to notice the loose screws. It just takes a couple minutes to peen them...

I had to use a mini torch to remove those little screws that I had installed about a year prior with loctite 290/permatex green.

About the Novi linkage, I use a jetworks linkage that's modified but with the Novi set up I imagine you could just replace the e clips with 8mm 2pc stainless collars from McMaster by just using smaller nylon spacers

I think I can get away with using just the novi coupler and thicker nylon spacers that novi uses. The clamping coupler pushes the thicker nylon spacer against the carb effectively doing the same thing you're talking about I think? I am able to make it so there's no play that way.

Imo clamp collars do a better job of preventing wear on the butterflies than eclips. The clips and washers allow for more 'slop' there over time.
