I'm really surprised the engine wasn't placed in an enclosure. Between being chased by compressor blades and the sound, that is just crazy.

the boat is in the first phase. but yeah i would enclose that also. if you get that thing soaked, it would crack the combustion chamber. but yeah. hey also made one called a Squirt 1 that used a small helicopter engine!

JP4 or JP8 - Basically just Diesel with out the oil added for lubrication. im guessing more like GPM the MPG! but hey we all know where not in this sport for the good gas mileage! lol

That is a serious investment in $$$ and time. Same concept as unlimited hydros (although the run an actual prop.) Pretty cool though. Interesting operation they have there.

I worked around turbines for 5 years and have been around them for a lot longer and have never ever heard of a turbine "burping". i have seen them come apart. but they just blow out the tail pipe.

Who Cares it a turbine in a boat. i would die laughing if that started up next to me at the ramp!:haha: whats the point of any jet boat. to kick ass and suck gas!
I know there is another boat out there that is powered buy 2 Turbines and 3 Diesels. between the 2 pumps it can move over 20 tons of Water every second. i cant remember what the boat was called but it was impressive. could do over 60 Kts it was pure black and the same boat that was in the movie island

I've worked with turbines for many years and never heard of burping either. They go into a stall state and can come apart and blades can either pass though axially or shoot through the compressor casing.

I think this boat is sweet too, I have a soft spot for that turbine whine.
