is 86mm the break-even point? at what diameter does an average pump setup (a/m prop w/ wet wolf cone) start to loose thrust. Will a TBM cone allow someone to take the nozzle diameter larger vs. a ww cone?
The radar guns won't find any gains on the top end because boring the nozzle is for bottom end acceleration only and you'll lose some top speed.I could not feel any differences for a given diameter. The radar guys may find some gains.
anybody using bored nozzle with hooker prop? I read some on the pump/prop database thread.
On a side note... any expertise with x2 nozzles? From what I understand they are larger than the 750 nozzles... however I'm afriad to bore mine out as its just a brittle ABS plastic of sorts. Would it be benificiary to eliminate the laminar flow fins inside the nozzle?
The stock nozzle has a 1.5-degree taper and needs to be machined on a lathe.
Boring the nozzle straight through will make the pump less efficient.
If you would like to have your reduction nozzle bored out the right way, send me a PM.
Zero do you still have the ability to taper bore nozzles? I have a couple I am looking to get taper bored. Probably 2 or 3 nozzles. Please let me know. I’m a new member so it doesn’t seem to let me PM you.
