How was the install and any problems with the exhaust? Blowsion has a turf kit to match the kicker footholds so ive been leaning that way to keep things simple but not sure if they would fit my 10.5 shoes

-No issues with the exhaust. there is plenty of room, not even a question of coming near it.
-I wear size 11 shoes. The 615/tobys are plenty big enough for my foot and i have plush undermat on top of my foot as well as bottom. the 26mm plush tapers down atop a layer of 8mm plush under my feet. I considered the blowsion holds too. but I heard that they were small after adding the turf in the fashion i wanted to. I have a set on another ski i forget which model ( i want to say diggers ) and yes they are tiny for me especially the exhaust tube side. I too liked blowsion because it was a one stop shop for pre cut turf an the foothold install kit as well as the holds... I did purchase my bulk turf and install materials from them as well as dakine surfstraps, but skipped on the holds and octane mat kit. I am more pleased with my decision now than when intially placed the order. The Toby holds are very comfortable. I was not really a big foothold fan, but these are super comfortable and are not obtuse in the tray. needless to say i have not installed my straps because i like these holds and frankly the octane is such a tank i dont think it'll be needing straps or a front foothold. These holds installed alot easier than i thought, I had also cut open my tray and defoamed while undertaking all of this. Good Luck !

Oh, one more thing to mention. I have rickter holds on a used ski i bought. They are tiny! ( for me ) are turfed with plush on the bottom only not on the tops. The guy i bought it from was a about 5.0' tall and had a size 8 or 9 foot. may have suited him but I'm 6.0' and 180lbs and it is not comfortable at all. just food for thought.

Not sure if tom21 holds will interfere with the exhaust, but they're huge and very nice. Awesome design.

26mm pad top and bottom, and my foot slides in super easy. It should be a snug fit with wrestling shoes. I'm a size 8.5 though.

They're super deep too.

Yes Tom makes excellent parts, I have his sponsons, his holds look enormous , the octane corner rails are tapered at the back, keep that in mind not like a tall sj corner rail

They are big, but Roseand's last picture is misleading. He has little tiny baby feet. . . if you are using 1" padding and turf on top and bottom they do not seem so ginormous
Hey! They're not that small :p
The holds are pretty decently sized with 26mm top and bottom, even for larger feet with wrestling shoes. You just have to kick in a little harder maybe.

Im new at this so im just full of questions lol. How much padding should i be using and is it included? I see you pop riveted the holds in, is fiberglassing necessary? Is it hard molding the turf into the footholds or just easier getting the kicker kit from blowsion? Really appreciate the advice

Do yourself a favor and read up as suggested in the links Roseand provided, Some great stuff there!

-I just made a cardboard templet and placed it as far back in the tray i could comfortably go.
-Traced lines and Cut the slots out. ( saved them too! im weird like that )
-I then predrilled the holes and had to grind down some high spots on the tray and inside corner of tray to get the holds to lay flat.
-I used 3M 5200 as seen in the photos around the perimeter of the new drilled holes and into the rivet holes. I popped the rivets in to hold the new shape and fit of the holds. at that point i let it dry for about a week as the 5200 takes a while even the fast stuff really inst so fast. i stood in them and checked the fit and placment.
-Then I went back scuffed the holds edges and the surrounding areas on the tray itself. and laid down 2 layers of fiberglass tape. with west system epoxy. the 2nd layer of glass tape being slightly wider than the first layer to cover it up. Probably was overkill but its kinda how i do things.

After all this i took a D/A sander with like 180 grit sand paper and lightly went over the new fiberglass and whole tray area to knock down any sharp spots and acetone'd the area for the turf install.

If you are not comfortable with turf such as shaping and cutting the angles to go into the footholds, then you may want to consider that pre-cut kit from blowsion. keep in mind the octanes never had any underpadding from polaris new. treat yourself to some while you can. Id go at least with the plush 8mm or whatever it is they have. this will cushion your feet. and inside the holds does not have to be as pretty looking but try to get some extra padding ontop of your feet and toes, theres alot of sensativity on the top foot there, protect it! Good Luck -JW
