Super Jet OEM 38 Carb Modding Question

Over the last week or two I have been researching the various reviews on taper bore modified stock sbn38 carbs on the round noses and found there seems to be very mixed reviews about them. It also seems that the reviews I have found at least are somewhat dated so I am wondering if anyone has had a change of opinion about them. I want to take my carbs in to work and set them up on the mill to only get rid of that big triangle block on the intake side as well as the three little fins. This has been on my mind for a long time now as I am hoping it will improve air flow but I have read only a small handful of replies about it being a bad idea and will hurt performance and tuning ease. I know that Art at Jetworks removes these areas, as well as Group K and a few others out there but I thought I would see if anyone has changed their mind about it by now. I don't want to do anything to the venturis or bore the opening, just remove the blocks...any thoughts? I know from old posts Matt_E is not in favor of that mod so I would like to get some input on this. I guess Art probably modifies the progression ports to compliment the work he does but I think he also does bore the venturi as well. So, is it a good idea to only remove the blocks? Leave em alone? Thoughts? Anyone?

The venturi is the max restriction. If you want to play, cut them out and then spend a day tuning. Or get a pare of 44s, they flow more and are very easy to tune, even OEMs.

I was kinda thinking that too, I can tune the stock configuration in about an hour. Making it more labor intensive is not on my preferred list of goals lol. I think I will stay with them as they are and maybe pick up a set of 44's when time and affordability permits. It was a close call too, I almost did the bore work yesterday but decided to hold out until I had the last few reviews on it. Thank you sir, advice shall be heeded.
