Oem Yamaha 760 head gasket thickness?

can someone please measure an OEM 760 head gasket for me please. Must be Yamaha OEM 760

How thick and how many layers?

Note: I have purchased 2 replacements from reputable companies. One was 2 layer .020” , the other was 3 layer .040”. To top it off blowsion lists the thickness at .050” and groupk’s documentation says .030”. WTF! Unreal.....I tend to believe groupk

I have one here that measures .030" and is 2 layers. It came from a 1997 gp760. I am 99% sure it is oem as the motor looked untouched when I bought it. I believe a friend of mine confirmed the oem metal 760 hg was .030", I'll ask for his sources.

Groupk documents say 3 layers. Lol. I guess I should just buy an OEM one and find out for sure! Maybe Yamaha had a cost savings and went 2 from 3? Maybe groupk was wrong

Anyone know what compression numbers I should expect from a stock 760 head gasket with a 61x head? Lites boat.. Someone told me I may need a custom one.

theres a guy on here that builds lites set-ups. he sells the cylinder kits on here. im pretty sure he stocks all the different headgaskets and has all the answers you are looking for. im not sure if he gives the info away for free though

Just got an OEM 760 head gasket still stapled in the OEM package

3 layers
2 main gaskets .010” each
1 center thin layer .006”

.026” total thickness My measurements are within .0005”. Checked with 4 micrometers
at work. If you ran the micrometer hard enough you could read .025”

Yet to find one aftermarket company that sells correct thickness. Typical in this industry

Thanks for this info! I'm going to be putting the 760 head gasket on my 701 with a stock milled head and added dual cooling. It looks like aftermarket ones are cheaper, but I'm going with OEM here to get the correct .025" thickness.
