I have been looking at upgrading all of our 1080P Cams to 4K in the very near future but currently all 4 of our cheap little cams are still going strong.

I spotted this unit in Best Buy a couple days ago but haven't had a chance to look it up at all.

It has the GPS and impact sensor but what got my attention was the second remote camera. My only beef with my current setup is that I run a separate rear facing cam and I don't have any way to hit the record button when I see something happen. This unit would resolve that quite nicely. Unfortunately it's not 4K though.

This would be my top choice if I had to buy another right now. It pays to shop around though cause I bet I can find it for under $50.

Man all the reviews say the rear camera wire sucks to run. My commuter car now is a 2012 Jeep Compass. I did a backup cam and the hardest part of the install was the 45 minutes it took me to fish the video cable through the grommet in the hatch. From what I’m reading the rear camera on that setup will end up totally useless to me.

How important is the rear camera? Anyone had to use their footage for an insurance claim?

All the cars on my block got hit last night by some hood rats. Glove box was torn up in my commuter and my wife’s minivan. I leave all my cars unlocked with nothing valuable in them on purpose. Nothing stolen, no glass broken, But papers tossed around. Neighbors all bought ring doorbells today because they are freaking out but I think it’s a waste of time. Even the cop that came for my neighbors police report said it’s a waste of time. You can’t catch someone’s face from your doorbell when they are at the street and even if you do, is the guy in the system to make a match?

Im interested but wont spend a penny with best buy. My commute is almost all interstate now and it would be nice to have some footage for cya purposes.

One of my $40 dashcams finally failed so I took the opportunity to upgrade to a 4K dual camera setup.
I went with the Rexing V1P Max which apparently I looked at before as I see I posted a link about it a few threads up from here.

I had the truck prewired but the new cam has a parking lot monitoring feature so I had to replace the harness with a new one that had a constant power wire.
The install was dead simple and even running the wire to the rear cam was achievable without taking off any trim other than the door seals.
It did come with a nifty little tool that helped push the cable up under the headliner.

Selling features for me were the 4K resolution, (even though it is only on the front facing camera, the rear is still 1080P), the parking lot feature, and the fact that both cameras record on a single card and I don't have to pull over and climb in the back seat to hit the save button on the rear camera anytime I need to save an event.

This unit also has the capability to connect my mobile device and pull footage via WiFi. This sure beats pulling the SD card and feeding it into a computer every time, plus it puts it on my mobile device for much easier file sharing.
