Well, there are about 10 minutes left until the beach closes.
It was a beautiful day to ride.
After the last few days here, it was looking like it was going to be a big disappointment weather-wise.
But when I got up this morning about 7:30 and looked outside, the surf was perfect, the wind had gone,it was sunny all day, and by 10am it was probably 70 degrees, no wind to speak of, and perfect wave sets (until about 12:30, and they got alot bigger and a little sloppier).
Today was great. I had the best time I've had in a long time.
The "Sick Trick" contest was a blast. Not sure who won, but alot of people lined the beach to watch. I'd say close to 1,000 from what I saw.
All in all, a great day.
If you didn't make it this year, I'd recommend you do your best to make it next. It was well worth it.

Oh, one other thing I thought I'd point out: If you can't get a room at the Makai, it's no big deal. Actually, about 1/2 mile south is a hotel that is a sister property to the Makai, and it was almost empty, had beach access for cars right there, and a huge fenced in empty lot right next to it on the beach to keep your trailers, skis, trucks, etc, and it is locked and monitored.
Not to mention, every morning you could just get up, drive your truck up the beach to the front of the Makai, and you're close to all the action without any of the hassle.
I think I'll stay there next year.

I wish I had my camera here, but the OC crew just finished loading up 7 Superjets on a double decker OPEN trailer.

When I went out there at the time it was supposed to be at, nobody was there hardly at all.
Until about 11am I was wondering when it was gonna happen, and I don't think it ever did (unless I missed it when I was out riding)

that's me in the gray sweatshirt in the first pic with my red Blaster, along with the gray superjet right behind us (which we never got fixed and spent the entire weekend in the same spot it is in in that picture. (if anybody cares).
The guy immediately to my right in the blue yamaha sweatshirt is user crasyass911 (or crazyass411), and the guy all the way to the left in the picture is user blasterboy1980.

They totally sold out of shirts and sweatshirts. When I tried to buy my Freeride swag this morning, they were all out.

Looks like it started with a whimper then...
...BANG! Sweet ride! Nice turnout. I'm waiting for pics of that double decker from across the country. Maybe our group will make it next year. We had to settle for a trip to our local beach instead this year. It was a great trip though. Lots of video and pics to come in a day or so.
