Offset damper??

Does anyone know if there is a place to get offset dampers or a blank that I can drill my own hole in. A friend is running a mismatch pipe/manifold on a x2. I was able to line up everything to some degree but the mount is not being used properly. The bolt is about 50% off center so I don't think I can make a damper set centered work. Any thoughts?

Here is a picture of how I have it bolted together now for mockup. I think it could be okay with the beefy washers but the 12mm hex is in a 20mm hole. There is already vibration damage from before I got a hold of it, the mount wasn't being used at all. all the rest of the alignment and spacing for the exhaust is pretty much perfect.

My concern is how little space there is between the bolt and the pipe boss. My worry is that it would just tear through the rubber and be metal on metal in a short order.

Any other suggestions? It was working before without a bolt but the excessive clamp pressure was causing premature hose wear and the mounts were rubbing. Im planning tk just bolt it tight and it shoukd be okay. I just know a damper would be best. Im sure itll be good enough.

Drill and tap a lower bolt hole in the manifold?

-Rob

Its very close., so i dont think that would work. I did suggest having the original hole welded up so it could be re drilled and tapped, but the owner didnt seem to like that idea,

cut off the mounting tab and dont run that mount? On all of my X2s with pipes I never ran that mount. I dont see it as necessary. You dont run that kind of mount on westcoast pipes for Kawis or Factory pipes for Kawis or Yamis.

Westcoast pipes have a solid one piece head pipe, 2 pieces and a manifold. This pipe is 3 pieces and a manifold. The head pipe sperated from the pipe in the surf. We are getting some heavy duty clamps.

Yea I kind of thought about my answer after I wrote it and realized there was another coupler.

I would try the rubber damper with an offset hole first. If you can get a large washer on both sides and keep it tight, it won't be able to push the rubber anywhere and may hold up. Keeping the bolts tight will be the trick there.

If that tears up then you might try a polyurethane suspension bushing although I don't know how that would stand up to the heat.

I'll be in the shop tomorrow and will dig through my rubber bin. I may have just what you are looking for...as long as I can actually find it.

Perhaps we are overthinking this. Just slip a piece of reinforced hose over the bolt. Just enough to prevent metal on metal contact.

Thank you. I think that would be best.
