Yup my beloved SXR is hurtin. Shes got stress cracks and chips all across the bottom. I spoke with a buddy of mine for tips on how to fix these i wanted to get your guys second, third, forth, ect lol opinions.

Basically in order to fix cracks. They need to be chamfer'd out (cut a V into them). Fill the V with something like marinetex and on the backsides re-enforce with fiberglass/epoxy. Correct?

As for the chips and scrapeage. Im thinking a mixture of epoxy and either SM Fairing Compound or Aerosil-Cabosil which is better?

Im looking at getting regular 6oz fiberglass and 635 epoxy medium hardner would that be good or is there something better?

I must admit this is kind of embarrassing to show my beatup ski... My 1992 SJ is in better shape!

you don't have real cracks yet. I dont' think you need to v them out. reinforce under your pole mount and ride. stress cracks and chips add character.

Alright, well i think ill be at least filling the stuff on the bottom. Im not exactly sure why this is in bad shape but its not from me!. Ther owner I bought it from got it as a dealer demo and he lived in a rocky section of a cape. So you do the math.

those are stress cracks, they are cosmetic only. its not worth fixing them because they come right back. however, the bottom just mix some thickened epoxy that you would use for glassing and fill it in, sand it smooth when it cures. pretty easy
