Oil in my flywheel cover

Just got an '88 js650. Pulled the motor to clean it up and planning on doing the water drain and oil block off plates. Just pulled of the Flywheel cover and there was a decent amount of oil the ran out when i pulled it off. Does this mean that my front crank seal is bad? I was considering replacing the oil seals anyways just want to hear some opinions.

Or somebody put oil in it because they didn't know any better
I would be leaning more towards this if there was actually a "decent amount of oil" in there. Clean it up, inspect the seal to make sure it looks like it is properly seated then take it for a ride and see how it looks after.

yeah someone thought it needed to have oil in the crank case. The inspection cap looks like an oil fill on a motorcycle. ask me how I know!! o_O

The front seal will always drool a little. I always poured 1/2oz of premix in the cover to keep rust out, plus it turns white if any water does get in.
